Moonrise over Boundary Pass

Great one Steph. Was really foggy here all day today! Did you see my Steph's BBQ on the sunset thread from last nite?

Your sky pics are great - this one is particularly nice, I think it is to do with the loneliness of the warm clear yellow moon over the coldness of the bay. I sure envy your location - wanna rent it out? I bet this prints out a treat.

Absolutely stunning. What a print this'd make (art book quality, easy!)

If you get a chance, could you give us some technical details?

Hey Steph,

I was looking at this picture a few minutes ago here at the hospital and one of my attending came by and looked over my shoulder and said, "fantastic picture...you do some great work." I smiled but reluctantly admitted that this particular picture wasn't mine :-) I really like the color of that golden moon.

RAW data is but a recipe; photoshop the spices...while the printout is the
final meal...and each meal tastes a little different depending on the cook.

Steph,

That's definitely a keeper, and a view out your window, must be nice! I love the dense blue and the golden moon, beautiful.

Leah

Thanks for the info. Tripod indeed! :-)

I've never taken a photo like this, from where do you meter? Is it one of those instances where you meter from the light object and from the dark object and average them out? I've never done that myself, but I've read about it.

We should make a book of S2 Forum members photos (no, really! I bet Fuji would sponsor it)

This image has a nice calmness to it ! I like it ! Was it shot thru glass window ?

Echo the compliments...

Where did you metered and ow long did you exposed it for? I took a few shots but sort of like this but the moon was blown-out and lost its detail.

Thanks,

Hi Chas,

I spot metered from the moon itself and applied a -1ev exposure correction in the camera. Actually, I did 3 at -.5, -1, and -1.5
The middle one came out best
