is there any difference between Sandisk and Lexar brand cf memory cards? the Lexar cards cost less but i do not see the difference in the write speed, same quality and build?

I think you must be looking at the non-pro Lexar CF cards. I think the professional Lexar cards are the most expensive out there.

I've been shooting Lexars since I went dit in 2000. Never lost a frame. In all honesty, I've used a few Sandisk cards, too, with no problem.

All I can say is that as a long time reader of dpreview, people seem to have a few more problems with Sandisk than Lexar, though that may be because they are so popular. You could do a search on this topic.

Bookmarked your test site. Thanks for that--I've been thinking about the 3.0 readers.

I will look into it, but honestly, most of the brands are exterior and share the same actually memory ie. Micron or Samsung

Like computer memory, 1000 brands, not too many have any chip other than Samsung or Micron on it.

I am curious too so I shall research a bit.

I have 4 Lexar Pros 16GB, they are newer still, but but in the last month LightRoom shows 11,411 imports and not a single issue with any images. FPS were rapid but no quantifiable measurements were taken.

FYI, it seems the Lexar USB 3 reader with the new UMDA 7 firmware has a compatibility issue with SanDisk Extreme Pro cards, at least the 16GB version. I have raised the issue with Lexar support.
