Hello everyone!
I currently have the option to get an M Monochrom (M9-based) for a seemingly good price. However, I am aware of the corrosion issues.
After my local seller contacted the Leica Customer Service, he received the info that a) the sensor (or rather sensor cover glass) was replaced in August 2015 b) to the second generation and c) will not corrode. While this sounds great, an official Leica announcement from early September 2015 stated that the final replacements for the M9M would start „soon“.
So I am wondering whether this sensor could still be gen 1 or this might have been an early replacement with the second generation.
Does anyone here have a clear timeline of replacements of M Monochrom sensors in 2015? I am aware of the fact that the camera may either become a mere paperweight or cost me at least 1,000 EUR more if things go wrong, which I would like to avoid.
Every input is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Greetings and all the best!
