Lumix G9 II EVF Movement Issue with IBIS

Hi everyone,

I’m encountering a strange issue with my new Lumix G9 II, and I’m hoping someone can help me figure it out. I have a hard time describing it, hence I couldn't find similar posts on that issue.

When I use the EVF and press the shutter release halfway to focus, everything works fine. But when I release the shutter button, reframe the shot, and then hold the camera still, the image in the EVF seems to shift slightly after 1–2 seconds. It looks as if the IBIS is trying to smooth out my movement, but the camera is already steady at that point, so it’s not helpful for photography.

This behavior is quite distracting when composing shots. I believe it might be related to the stabilization system, though I’m not entirely certain, especially since I haven’t experienced this with other mirrorless cameras, such as the original G9 or the Z7II.

Has anyone experienced this, and do you know what’s causing it? Is there a way to disable or adjust this behavior so the EVF doesn’t shift like this?

Thanks!

Looks like eye-focus is on - this is when your eye is to the evf the camera will try to re-focus when your eye is at the evf. This is not "focusing on eyes" which is something completely different.

But I am not sure that this is what happens when the eye is not moved away from the evf and eye-focus is supposed to work when the eye is first brought to the evf. However what you have described is something that I have not experienced. I have whimsically moved my head back and forth to the evf like a woodpecker to make the camera repeat focus attempts without any other intervention. It can be turned off in menu.
