When Luminar 2018 was announced here at DPR a person from Macpun support called "Huttenfreak" confirmed that Luminar 2018 would support Sigma raw files. Therefore I decided to preorder Luminar 2018. I have just downloaded it, but it does not support Sigma raw files! It can't see X3F files from the original DP2 and SD Quattro. And DNG files from SD Quattro looks like the attached image.

The only way to edit Sigma files in Luminar 2018 is to export them from Lightroom.

Has anyone experienced the same as I? I am running Windows 10.

As far as I can find out, Luminar 2018 is only and only compatible with the popular RAW files.

The person who has called that the sigma raw files are also compatible, has committed a commercial lie.

Maybe it will . . . in 2018 some time.

;)

Doesn't recognize dp2m files on mac either. In a dpreview article a few weeks ago alina from Luminar stated that the list of raws supported was listed in the libraw support file.

In another article on dpreview she specifically stated it would support sigma Quattro H raws.

Neither is supported right now and I suspect it will be a long time if ever before they are.

Luminar seems to be a company with big ideas but poor follow thru. I'll be returning my copy.

I can confirm that Luminar 2018 on Mac definitely doesn't support either X3F nor DNG files.

Affinity Photo does support Sigma camera generated DNGs, however. Probably a better option for Mac users.

Affinity also supports X3F sdQ-H files, not only DNG (unless my Windows version 1.6.0.89 of it is a highly unusual one, which I doubt).

Granted you'll probably get a fright when first opening the file as Affinity does need to work at landing on a better opening default, but its sure enough processes my X3F files directly, and as far as I know is the only other raw developer and editor to do so apart from SPP.

The controls in Affinity are comprehensive, but their insistence on renaming common functions with their own peculiar labels does take some getting used to, as does finding their often puzzling methods of re-inventing usual workflow actions (like flicking between the current adjustment and its previous state in the preview pane).

Learning and using keyboard shortcuts seems to be the best answer for these quirks, though.

One thing for sure, if you are working in B&W, Affinity is highly capable and way quicker than SPP. Colour is another matter, though - you have to work at it a bit harder.

It doesn't support X3I files at all, however.
