Having owned the excellent Minolta 7D DSLR for the last year, I've been searching for a P&S in anticipation of our first baby (7D's too cumbersom for the wife). Also wanted to have a small camera when bringing the 7D isn't feasible. I wanted a camera with good low light abilities as I enjoy shooting without flash as much as possible. Learned about the F10/F11 while doing research and was dissapointed that the F11 wasn't available in the US yet (baby's due Christmas). Did further research and found a reputable seller on eBay where I was able to buy the F11 for $409.98 which includes shipping and a 3 year extended warranty from Mack. The warranty allows me to ship (for free) to Mack's US service center should the F11 need service. I'll be buying a couple none type M xD cards to play with. Any recommendations on xD cards would be greatly appreciated.

Anyone interested in the same deal can look up the following link (I'm not affiliated with the seller in any way):

Hi- I just posted for Clara that Mack personally told me they can not service the F11.

Can you let me know if something has changed???

Perhaps they are mailing the cameras overseas after you mail to them?

I spoke to them last week and they were insistent that they will not sell

Mack Warranties iin the US on an F11. But- they also said they would investigate options.

I would love to know to whom you spoke to get an exact reply and a name to match to it.

Thanks!

Linda

IITravel - from what I've read, the none type M cards offer better performance.

mm - I purchased the camera from Time 2 Envy after seeing their auction on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7565648058 . It looks like they've sold out on that auction. I purchased over the phone so you may want to give them a call for availability.

lharris - The Mack extended warranty was offered by and purchased from the seller listed above. The seller looks reputable per their feedback on eBay. We'll see what happens when I call Mack for warranty registration.

Hi. I emailed time2envy regarding the extended warranty from Mack that they offered.

"...On your Ebay listing (as of Nov. 22,2005), you said that imported cameras generally come with International Warranties only and if you need service, you would have to ship your camera outside the US-- does this F11 really includes the Interntional Warranty or is this ONLY for Japan (because according to my research on this particular imported F11 is only for japan)? If it is only for Japan, will I still be able to get it service(of course through my shipping expense I'm assumming) from Japan even if I live in the U.S.A?

Also, you offer a Mack 3 years extended warranty, can I purchase 2 years instead (lower price?)? Furthermore, according to my research, a user on dpreview.com recieved an email from Mack saying that they would not be servicing (at least for the time being) the F11? Is this true?"

Their (time2envy) reply:
"yes, if you were to ship it to Japan you would get service out there.

we only have a mack 3 year or mack 5 year available. i don't know anything about mack not serviceing this as of yet but it could be true?

thanks
michael"

I've also emailed Mack regarding this matter, but I have yet to recieve an email this morning. I just need to know if Mack is going to be servicing this or not, so I can think about purchasing the extended warranty through that seller. Either way...in the end I think I will most likely order from this seller.

Yes, I nearly bought an FX9 Panny from Time2Envy and I also found them to be reputable. I know others who have bought from them.

Please do advise me about the Mack Warranty.

I know that Dynamism charges $449 right now and $7.00 for the same shipping type. There is no shipping charge for the one year Fuji Warranty and no cost to the buyer during that year for shipping to the seller. The seller then assumes the shipping cost to Japan after the warranty is over, but it is still free to Dynamism. And of course, repairs are done directly by Fuji.

After warranty, shipping is still free to Dynamism-but they charge a modest overseas shipping amount since they bulk ship.

If the Mack Warranty holds for the F11, I would think Time 2Envy would also be a great place to buy the F11.

They were professional when I spoke with them a while back.

It would be good to hear that Mack has found a way to service the F11 for those in the US.

Dynamism has great testimonials and been in business about 8 years, I think.

Time to envy has a lot of Ebay Transactions since 2001 and an over 99%
satisfaction rate.

I think you can be happy with your transaction.

However, the information on Mack with the F11 would certainly be great to know. When I tried to reach them last time, they had to call me back.

But, I was impressed-they actually did.

Gosh- I think I am going to list my F10. Rats...I want to be my 'buyer' not the seller!

Regards and happy holiday,
Linda

Sorry- I answered these out of order.

I think these are two sellers with integrity. Pricing is a bit different and the servicing component will vary.

I think that if Mack does do the F11, that would be attractive. Otherwise- I suppose it is just a matter of shipping overseas. Depends how you feel about that-but hey- we do that all the time these days. I don't know the cost or time factor.

With the Dynamism guarranty, shipping is paid and they 'handle' it under warranty and then just the US shipping portion 'after' warranty. I actually left a message a few minutes ago about whether there is any Fuji or credit card extended warranty option. The manager is gone for the holiday and I was told would get back to me early next week.

I don't know if Fuji offers extended warranty. I know some credit cards do--but I have never done it and don't exactly know how they work with US products, let alone foreign goods.

Again- do enjoy your camera. Both seem to be sellers one can trust.

Post photos when ready! Make us jealous! (unless I sell my F10 and bite the financial bullet..).

Happy Thanksgiving,
Linda

Well- I did list my F10 camera on Fred Miranda and Photography review since I have never sold on Ebay-just bought.

I guess I will see what happens. I will not mention the details here to respect the forum.

If the camera sells--and it should--then I will order the F11. Otherwise, I can not say that I am really at all unhappy with the F10, but rather chose to attempt to sell it while it is as new.

this maybe old news to others. others good news. or bad whichever way you choose to see it.

contacted the seller time2envy... inquiring about the mack warranty that was 'sold with this' and his reply was the following...

"2. the warranty it comes with is not good in the US, you would have to purchase the Mack 3 year http://www.mackcam.com "

but i just wanted to let you at least know what he told me. if you'd like i can forward the email to you...

in switzerland f10 is strongly promoted for 580 chf-more than these 408 usd for f11. it seems that they must first sell the remaining ones. i could buy f10 for 500 chf.digital cam market is exploding here. there are a lot of poor cameras around. fuji does not belong to them....

I am not sure I understand this....first it says the warranty is not good in US, but then says you would have to purchase the Mack 3 year...can you elaborate, or am I missing something.

If the mack warranty for 3 years is good then it is a no brainer to buy from time2envy.

Thanks

Sorry- I am not clear what you mean on your post.

Could you expand a little? I think you are saying that the F10 is actually 'more' costly--but that they have to sell them first?

Is it more costly because the retailers paid more for them in the beginining than Fuji is now able to sell the F11 for?

Again-I just am not sure I understood. Thanks.

Linda

Joel,

I inquired about the warranty available for the F11.

1.The MANUFACTURERS WARRANTY is available for one year. but you have to have this done in japan.

2. if youd like to have a mack warranty you have to PURCHASE this from mack, not from the retailer or from Time2envy. IMO it is another additional cost for the warranty.

i dont think its a 'no brainer' considering the total cost mind you.

I order my F11 today at prestige camera for $313.43 + $12.99 shipping, I've done some research on the vendor's reputation, I decided to try my luck ...

I saw your post so I checked it out...they offer a 90 day parts, one year labor, or is it the other way around, warranty...no international warranty...wonder if the so called international warranty from the other vendors selling this cam are good, Prestige said it cannot be on a grey item..

Now of interest, I asked where in NY they were and this person told me Pougkepsie (sp?), which is in upstate ny, when I checked on the web page it said Brooklyn...wonder why he would have said that...I don't know much about their reputation but that is a great price....$46 better than the next best and a bit cheaper shipping, so about $50 cheaper...

jamari,

I called mack today, they said they do not sell the warranty and I need to buy it from the camera seller and they would honor it in the US, once the 1 year manuf warranty expires. Guess we are getting different info, very confusing.

Thank you
