I'm about to go crazy figuring out what I need. What I've determined:
I don't need the Sandisk Extreme III (I'm buying Canon S2)
I don't need an expensive brand name card
I want at least a 60X (maybe faster) speed card
I want a 1GB card
I'd like to get it from Newegg.com.
So many of the products don't advertise their speed or mb/sec.

If you're on top of all of this, would you mind helping me find a good card for the money with the above requirements?

150x speed...I'm hoping you've seen a tremendous improvement in the read/write speed with this card. I think I remember seeing this on Newegg but doubted it's speed and quality. Have you had other SD cards? Slower cards? CAN you see a big improvement?

I’m curious to know who made the Canon card that came with my camera. I learned on the web that these cards are made by Panasonic, Sandisk, and Toshiba. That’s it. I assume the info was correct. Lexar uses Panasonic, which is supposed to be the fastest. Sandisk is second fastest. Toshiba is reported to be the slowest but super dependable, and I believe one article said Viking uses Toshiba. Lexar uses Panasonic, but so do a few unnamed others.

So, if we knew that Toshiba made the Canon card I think any card would do for me because that little 32mb card is fine. I bought 2 x 512mb high-speed cards, but I might have wasted money. Maybe you’ll find out and let me know.

For S1 I had CF Sandisk II.

Initialy I bought a SD Sandisk II for my S2. But after I got the A-Data and I saw it's almost 3 times faster, I returned Sandisk.

A month ago, while I was considering A-Data, I wrote here that I know it for more than 3 years, when I was selling A-Data memory for PC's.
Never had problems with it.

Several people have reported problems with Kingston 1GB Elite Pro in the S2 (myself included). It works for a while, then gives you a "Memory Card Error". You can get your photos out with a card reader, but the S2 will not recognize the card until it is reformatted.

This has also been disussed over at Steve's forums: http://www.stevesforums.com/forums/view_topic.php?id=57558&forum_id=15&page=2

I had that same problem with a Lexar memory stick for Sony. For a time I could get the photos off the stick with a card reader then reformat in the camera. But eventually the camera was unable to even format the stick.
