I came across some posts mentioning that certain system has a higher participation rate in photo challenges. I then went through some of the challenges and was amused by this observation. So, I went to forum discussions and checked out the posts in equipment talks, Obviously, some have more posts than others but it may be due to the start date of the forum. So, I then check to see in each forum, at Page 100, what the date of discussion is.

I hypothesize if the date is more current, it means there is higher participation...Of course, like all research papers will say, further research is needed for...blah blah blah.

Without further ado, here is my no bell prize research findings

talk Current Threads /Current Posts Date of 100th pageMMDDYY

Canon EOS R Talk 17,415 /299,567 09/04/22

Fujifilm X System / SLR Talk 120,182. /1,543,826. 04/18/23

Nikon Z Mirrorless Talk 25,569./ 495,461 10/07/23

Micro Four Thirds Talk 163,479 /2,793,525 01/17/24

Sony Alpha Full Frame E-mount Talk 50,210/ 760,093 09/25/22

So, it seems M43 participation rate in photo challenge and forum discussion is high. Of course, one reason maybe it consists of two brands.

It's not meant to be brand wars like in film days..."Nikon > Canon but Minolta/Pentax has the most advanced model...or Fuji 100 is better than Kodak gold 100"

It used to be that Micro Four Thirds camera outfits were generally smaller and lighter than the FF genre so more likely to be carried. Whereas the heavier cameras often get left at home and use the smartphone instead.

More recently though M4/3 cameras have grown in size and FF cameras have shrunk, so we will have to wait and see how that plays out.

Explainer, me a M4/3 tragic using 10 year old cameras.

m43 is the oldest of the current mounts, is it not? It was really the first mirrorless, so the threads go back to 2008, are two brands, and they don't have a separate lens forum. Still, it's very active for sure, if not the most.

The Sony APSC forum is probably next oldest with 70k threads goes back to 2010 but like you say, it's just one brand (just a part of one, at that).

Love the oldies. The newest M43 camera I have is the GH4, which I was surprised was discounted so heavily some years back. That was first released in 2014. The others I have are far older.
