In the big announcement thread I asked here for clarification on the image viewer functionality in the new xenforo-based forum app. No response to that post was was provided before the thread was locked. In the interim, I've looked at the MacRumors image viewing and gallery functionality. Likewise, I've checked out bcgforums. Neither of those sites feature full size or even realistically large image size viewing options, and they each impose various restrictions and limitations that I certainly hope aren't going to be applicable to DPR's implementation. In addition to the clarifications requested in my previous post, can somebody please provide a link to a xenforo implementation that actually features the kind of file size/image size, metadata capture/display, and downloading functionality we will experience in the DPR implementation?

Thanks

Thanks for linking to the previous discussion, excellent idea.

Each forum will have its own limitations, if they wish to restrict viewing sizes.

We are working to have downloads of files be unaltered. This includes capturing EXIF data. The viewing of them should be at a high quality as well, depending on your own browser settings and whatnot of course.

I am sending these questions you asked to our team to get more specific answers, as my response I admit was rather vague:
  • What, if any, lossy compression is being applied upon image import and how that might be associated with the imported image/file size?
  • What image viewer is embedded and how it manages resizing/interpolation?
  • What color management capabilities does the viewer have and how does it manage image files with missing tags and color profiles?
  • What image rendering functions are handed off to the browser and do they differ from current, familiar DPR viewer behavior?

The ability to hover over an image to view its exif.

Absolutely this and all the above. If we do not have these things we might as well just stick with Face Book to share and discuss our photos. I continually see more followup and discussion on photos there than here anyway.
