Ok, just got the 20d last week, so I haven't played with it as much as I would've liked... but one thing I've noticed is that on L(fine) setting, my images range anywhere from 1.7-2.7 Mb in size.

This seems incredibly small considering the MP size.. is this normal? I had a 300d before this and most if not all files were larger in size... does ISO speed et al affect the size that much?? (I ask this because I've taken most of my pictures so far in very low light high ISO conditions..)

Thanks for answers to this relatively basic question..

The size of a .jpg depends on how complex the image is. If you take a photo of the sky, there is not a lot of detail there, and the image is easy to compress. If you take a photo of a busy street scene, there is a lot more data.

ISO could have some impact, the "noise" at higher ISO may be seen as additional detail by the .jpg compression algorithm, but I'm not positive of that. In any case, it should be a small factor.
