Just like to try to take some eclipse of the moon tonight. No special lenses, just good "new" C-2020Z.

Any suggestion on the settings will be most grateful. Eclipse won't last. :)

You'll new a 5-10x teleconverter otherwise the moon will look like a little dot in the image frame. You'll think it's a stuck pixel.

I know. But I'll try to do it in SHQ or TIFF mode. Just like to have some proof I saw it.

Did anyone get any good shots of the eclipse? I was clouded out :-(

My eclipse rig consisted of an "old" 400mm, f/6.3, preset telephoto with a T-mount. I coupled a T-mount eyepiece holder, to take a 32mm eyepiece, giving me 12.5x. Then I took some PVC plumbing pipe, modified to couple the C2000Z with CLA-1 to the eyepiece; which was pre-focused. The telephoto takes a 72mm filter, and I had a ND4, so I added it to cut down the light of a very bright moon. That was about 7PM EST. I had the C2000Z hooked up to an AC adapter, because it was about 10 degrees out, and at that temp., your batteries will last about a nano-second! About 45 min. later the clouds moved in, and I kissed the eclipse bye-bye. Well I could have paid $5,000 for a solar eclipse junket, and got clouded out; so I don't feel so bad.....Barry

Barry,

I got clouded mostly out, too. I had peeks a few seconds long, but never quite long enough to aim.

I like your spirit building that custom set-up. I think building is half the fun. Anad aren't we due for a second eclipse this summer? Perhaps then our luck and the temperature will be better.

I been checking around for good eclipse photos. So far, no luck. I evesdropped on the Nikon forum, and those guys really have problems. Poor LCD readout, no remote control (they have to use a self-timer...Sucks!). Gawd...am I glad I got an Olympus C2K....Barry

This site has the best example of the lunar eclipse show I've seen so far. The interval between shots is right on. This series would make a good animated GIF file.

Ciao...Barry
