How do I shoot pictures with the D70 and send them directly to the laptop? I have a big photo shoot this week and there will be about 100 or more couples in line for pictures and I want to shoot them, and have the pictures ready for them to see as soon as they move on to see the pics and order. Is this possible? OR do I have to save them to the memory card and upload them? Anyone with suggestions welcome!! Thanks!

Nikon Capture will do that, it also has time laps photography function which I would love to do if it were not for 2 conditions:

1) Leaving my camera outside all night.

2) Living in Oregon where the wheather can change from sunny and 80°f to raining and 67°f in a matter of a night : P

Best regards,
Thomas

You need to get Nikon Capture 4 and then so that it will work with the D70, install upgrade 4.1.

You can have pics go directly to hard drive and also control your camera from the laptop.

It will cost you $100 but can get the full program with everything working and use for 30 days before making up your mind if you want to buy it.

Here is what you have to do, Plug in your USB cord to the camera and laptop turn the camera on and then go to my Computer and look for the D70 and double click it and on the left side panel it will ask you if you want capture pictures from camera or take a picture simple as that and from there you will see the picture you take right away.

SWEET! Thanks amigos!! I already have the 4.1 $100 upgrade. I will experiment in my studio this week before I take it out on location. This is the first year I have done this event and others digitally, before I always used long roll film with camera cards (pain in the butt). This digital stuff will be ALOT better.

There's only one problem which is the (relatively) slow transfer speed. It takes 5 or 10 seconds between shots if you're shooting NEF before they make it onto the laptop. Certainly feels like a big step back from shooting to cards.

Yeah, luckily I will be shooting all in fine jpg so it will be a little faster. Too bad there isnt a firewire transfer port on the camera!! I have my studio lights and everything set up good enough for jpg. I will be doing VERY MINIMAL post processing, if any at all. I have done 8x10 test prints from shooting people in the studio, and they print AWESOME!!

Okay, now problem number 2!! The usb cable that came with the camera is pretty short, can I use an extension cord, or a buy a longer cord? The laptop would have to be like 4 feet from the camera which doesnt give me alot of working room!

I've seen USB extender M/F cables up to 3m long - I think that would be about the maximum.
