Hi all,

I have a canon 70D which had a problem in the lens contacts and I had to manually replace that part (quite cumbersome)

The camera worked fine (screen etc) but couldn't focus or set aperture of the lens. Once I reassembled the camera now can operate the lens but the screen (lcd) stopped working. If I connect it to the pc I can do live view and change all settings so it is only a screen issue

I have got a replacement screen but after connecting it I still get no image...

Does anyone know what type of test I could to understand if the problem is in the mainboard and if so which chips are controlling the graphics/screen so that i don't need to get a new mainboard just to get the screen working?

Thanks in advance!

Did the screen stop working immediately after the repair? If it were me, I'd open it back up and make sure everything is connected, all connections are secure, no crimped wires, etc.

Thanks a lot bifrost!

It was rather odd. I opened it up replaced the part and closed and the screen was working but for the AF points on the viewfinder were not illuminating, so I opened it and reattached the screen and the AF points now worked on the viewfinder but the lcd screen didn't...

I tried to reconnect multiple times to no success so far.

I found another 70D I'm thinking of buying for parts but not sure if it is a good idea.

On the last photo you can see the photos look fuzzy. The owner says it is a weird phenomenon that live view, video or playback photos doesnt work (almost as if the graphics is off) but the picture can be taken and see in the pc

Best,

Bummer. I repair stuff for a living, and sometimes you forget to connect something, or a connector comes off during reassembly, wires get crimped, etc. That's why I suggested it. Never actually seen the inside of a camera, but I'm assuming there are probably ribbon cables in there. They do fail. The only other suggestion I could make is bring it in for repair.
