Hi David,How many folks out there still enjoy their CP950?
David
David I just got 950 on Friday(Yippee),Ive taken about 40 pictures
and am amazed at the quality of photos this 2mp could produce.I was
always a traditionalist and snubed my nose at digital technolgy and
figure it will not match the film quality, but Im a true
convert.I've read every possible review and ask all my digital
users friends about the Coolpics 9 series lines and all had nothing
but praise about these units.I enjoy this camera and its ablility
to be functional with quality photos,I've got a couple of questions
though, when the camera is focusing should it make a slight
"grinding" noise.I know its the auto focus but should it be making
that sound?,second would the 950 users recommended the TC E2 for
telephoto shots or is there another lenses you might recommond, over
all Im very please with the camera and would definitely give this
camera two BIG thumbs up,it may not have the highest pixels on the
market but the macro shots this camera takes are second to none..
Yes David I see the green light,I know its the auto focus just wondering if it was suppose to make that "noise".David on Ebay they are selling the TC e2 for about $110us,is that a good price?.My main usage for the 950 are macros and static pictures(plants, horizons, buildings, etc),is the e2 or the e3 better for my perference of photos.I've read other people reviews and it seems they like the e2 better than the e3,whats your opinion ?.Hi Daytona,
When you hear the "grinding" noise, you should see the green light
bulb is on, right? Yes, that's normal.
I've both the EW-24 and E2 lens, both are very well made and the
image quality will beat any other after-market lens. I'm sure you
won't be disappointed.

If you set the camera for Single AF then the chortling you hear will only happen with each half-press of the shutter. It's that auto focus, all right. In Continuous AF, the clucking and chuckling goes on all the time. Don't worry, it doesn't eat much power. Single AF tends to prevent far objects from stealing focus away from closer objects. Continuous tends to lock on whatever it finds first.Yes David I see the green light,I know its the auto focus just

I'm still having fun with mine. And, I too, am impressed most with the macro feature. This camera does very well with that. To repeat a question I had a week ago, are any of you using a Viking 128Mb card? Any issues with it? I have found none. How many folks out there still enjoy their CP950?

One here. I still like my 950. I tried a friend's 990 and found that some pics have a little magenta cast sometimes, or some colour shift compared to my 950. And the 995 is still not too big an improvement for me, so I've stayed with the 950. Waiting for the next Coolpix or D-SLR.How many folks out there still enjoy their CP950?

I am sure it will. Check out this article on Digital Camera Magazine.Heading to Alaska tomorrow. We'll see how it holds up in the cold.
Better than me I'm sure.

I still have my 950 and in researching infrared photography found
that it is preferred to the 990/995 for infrared photography due to
the 950's lack of IR cut filters over the CCD. 990/995 will still
work for IR, but the 950 is mobetter.
Still waiting for my IR filter from Harrison&Harrison.

You're welcome. I was rather surprised when I read the article too. The Coolpix worked even when the author's mechanical K-1000 failed. I'd always thought electronic cameras usually just die in extreme cold, while their mechanical ones should continue to work.CK,
Interesting article. Thanks.
Yes, I too have a CP950. (about 6 weeks) Love it very much. How many folks out there still enjoy their CP950?
