I purchased a Panasonic 45-200 lens two weeks ago from Amazon for 349.95. The price went down to 290.33. Amazon refuses to refund me the difference. As a result I will return the original and purchase another one, $60.00 bucks is $60.00 bucks.

Actually, subtract shipping and I save $55.00

I agree it's stupid. Usually if you ask for a manager you can work it out. Especially since they tend to cover your return shipping, they end up at a loss. Don't get it.

It's stupid. Most retailers will honor a price reduction for 30 days. Was it actually sold by Amazon or another retailer on their site?

I agree it's not consumer friendly. But that's one customer for whom they take shipping loss, how many are there who won't return it?
BTW, I doubt they'll cover the return shipping if item is not defective.

I've returned plenty of items to Amazon without any defect...Just changed my mind. If you do it within the 30 days, you get a USPS or UPS shipping label.

If the price changes before they ship to you, they'll adjust automatically. If it changes after the product ships, they won't credit you. It sucks..

No biggie. I save 55.00 or 17% not a bad return. They may have won the battle. They lost the war. I will certainly not do business with them after this.

If you will no longer do business with them, then it seems you lost the war, I guess you will just pay higher prices for the rest of your life. I don't know about you, but i buy where it's cheapest and easiest

I agree. Stores like Amazon are not afraid to lose a customer for such a small thing. And it is still one of the cheapest and, really, friendliest places to shop. Just return the item and get the same cheaper, that's the best revenge!

When I ordered mine it was $295 plus change, then went down a couple of bucks they refused to refund the difference. They used to do this. For a couple of dollars I wouldn't return it. But, for you $50+ is a big chunk of change. I would however order before you return to lock in that price. It would be your luck if waited you would end up paying more.

Retailers need customers to survive.

There are plenty of other places with equal or better pricing and better service.

Amazon is a faceless company.

FWIW I rather do business with a company that has a "face" even if it means paying a little bit more. I traded e-mails with them regarding this issue and the responses were clearly scripted and somewhat insulting.

Target issues price change refunds - happened to my wife with xbox 360 at the end of the summer.

My request to Amazon is not unreasonable.
This tells me Amazon does not really care about its customers.

Every camera I've checked on Amazon is higher priced than B&H, Adorama and Vanns.

You get a $60 windfall, and you are so upset you had to pack up the original and wait for the next one that you won't buy from them again???

I called Amazon this morning and spoke to a gentleman named Mathew. Dealing with them on the phone is totally different than dealing with them via e-mail.

Mathew was very polite and professional.

They were able to refund me the difference of $60.00 and they cancelled my new order (I was unable to do so online). They also informed me that the "price guarantee" is good for 7 days which I find odd because you have more than 7 days to return the item.

Their price guarantee should be as long as the time you have to return an item.
