I recently re-set my rear dial in my OM-1 (Mk.1) to exposure compensation, for quick use in photographing, e.g. a dark bird against a bright sky. But in the viewfinder , no matter what I set the info settings to, even though spinning the front dial changes the info at the bottom of the screen (e.g. shutter speed), the info about exposure comp that I have set in my C1, C2 etc. settings remains the same but a little green icon appears and shows the changes on the right hand side of the viewfinder, together with a greyed out flash icon (II don't even have a flash unit attached to the camera). . It never used to be like that. I can't find a way of changing it back to changing the info at the bottom of the viewfinder, next to the shutter speed info, even after reading all the relevant pages in the instruction manual. Spinning the rear wheel changes the exposure comp. info in the super control panel, but not at the bottom of the screen in the viewfinder, which is where I want it. There must be some setting I have accidentally changed. So how can I achieve that?

Menu - Gear - 4 information - EVF Style :

maybe what you want to change.

Actually I have found out the answer. In the Gear menu under dial settings I had selected the icon that included the flash instead of the icon that just indicates the exposure comp. I changed it and all is good. I tried to withdraw my post but it's too late. Thanks anyway!

As a man who got his first SLR over 45 years ago, and still hasn't learnt how to remember into which pocket he put the blessed lens cap, I feel your pain.... which I avoid as much as I can by leaving well alone, whenever I can!
