I recently bought a second-hand Fujifilm X-T50.

Having been a Canon user for over 20 years, I’m now adjusting to Fuji’s control logic, which is mostly fine. However, I’m struggling with how sensitive the controls are.

Yesterday, I took the camera out for my first extended shooting session, and it nearly drove me crazy. The dials kept changing values just from being slightly touched.

Since I have moderately large hands and the camera is quite compact, it’s difficult to avoid brushing against them.

For example, many Fuji users praise the aperture ring on the lenses and even “warned” me about a Sigma option that doesn’t have one when I asked for advice on 16mm lenses.

But what’s the point of having this legacy control if the setting constantly shifts just from reaching for the zoom ring?

I investigated a little and found a couple of features under “Set up” --> “Button/Dial Setting” -->”AE/AF-Lock Mode” and “Lock”

However, as the name indicates, “AE/AF-Lock Mode” only pertains to locking the AE/FE readings. The dials values can still be changed by turning the dials and the aperture ring on the lens.

“Lock” does lock all values or the ones we elect by using the “Selected Function” option and then selecting which ones to lock, under the “Function Selection” sub-menu.

Still, it is impractical to dive into the menus every time one needs to lock dials.

Upon further investigation, I found that we can assign the “Lock” function to one of the “Fn” buttons.

However, after mapping it to “Fn1,” all it does is open the “Lock” menu, requiring the user to still have to navigate through the menus to lock or unlock controls. Again, unpractical.

Am I missing something?

Thank you for any inputs.

Try push and hold the menu button. Should lock and unlock desired functions/buttons.

I disovered this function a little too late =)

The X-M5 i useless for me without this function.

Exactly what I was looking for.

Thank you! :-D
