A realtor asked me to get a closeup shot of a bathroom fixture using HDR.
I kind of liked the results.
K-5, ISO 160, DA* 16-50, F13, 36mm, Photomatix Pro 4.1 HDR s/w

Use a tripod of course.
five different exposures in manual mode: -2.0, -1.0, 0.0, +1.0, +2.0
Run the five pics through Photomatix.
Select the tone-mapping mode and
then select the painterly effect set to medium in lighting effect.

For this particular shot, the color cast was a little to yellow/warm due to the tungsten lighting so I applied a little blue filter so it wasn't so warm.
That's about it.
I really like (actually love) the effect. Can you go over the steps you used to get this pleasant result?

Woowww... a very nice photo...

Thank you for sharing...

Interesting experimeht. I like the feel generally, the more echted out quality of the outlines of the fixture is bit much for my taste. Interesting that the Realtor requested this!

Thanks for showing

Reflections, understandings, discoveries and intimations..

I wonder how the original - just 'normal' exposed - looked like; could you have done this with one exposure ?
I find the reflections on the tap somewhat unnatural.

I also find the texture and detail of the faucet fascinating. Cannot quite explain why, but I like it. My only suggestion would be to crop off the top of the image just below the brass (?) rings, and leave the abstract quality of all the reflections in place. Also, perhaps clone out the electric outlet on the right edge. Just my 2 cents...

good picture but i cant help but look at it as art more than photography. i actually at first thought it looked like a CG frame from an animated movie. this is a compliment to modern CGI but its also bringing to light the confusion this could produce as time goes on. perhaps im just a purist in that i like to keep PP to a minimum, to each their own. good luck with your pics anyhow, i do like the composition.

Alan-
