I been having a problem with my GF 50R where the settings, ISO and image playback are changing all by themselves. I believe it is because the front command dial is malfunctioning. I sent the camera in to Fuji repair and they replaced the rear screen, sent it back to me and didn't fix the problem. I told them it was a problem with the input dials, but they didn't listen. I've had to rent a camera for my upcoming assignments. I'm very disappointed with Fuji repair in NJ. Has anyone else had an issue with the front command dial on the 50R? Here is a video showing the problem:

Thanks,

Peter

That's disappointing. Have you tried by any chance a reset factory and see if the problem persists.

Also, you have the latest firmware (though I don't think it shall be the issue).

It looks like the front dial is indeed defective.

Cheers,

Max

I had a very poor experience with Fuji repair NJ. Fuji in UK fixed my 50r quickly and at reasonable cost.

Hi Peter,

I have had this exact problem. It was the front command dial.

I sent it to Fuji in Canada. They fixed it and mine has been problem free. It took them two tries though... When the first repair didn't fix the problem, I insisted on a loaner, which they provided.

Had similar erratic behaviour with the rear dial on my 50S. Fuji replaced the whole top plate (for a price) dials included, solved the problem.

If you stated it was erratic dial behaviour, it’s strange Fuji did not address that, but instead changed the LCD?? Worth stating the issue again, crystal clearly. Did you pay for the unnecessary rear LCD replacement?

Yes, I did pay for the unnecessary screen replacement. The camera is on it's way back to them, hopefully they will get it right and work out the unnecessary charge.

That s totally unacceptable. You should get a refund for it.

That's really odd they chose to replace a screen for a defective front dial.

Send a letter to their customer service asap!!!

Cheers,

Max

Fuji repair service is not like Canon. You need to call them and have it fixed hopefully for free this time.

Camera is back to me today. They replaced the top plate at no additional charge, got it back to me a just a few days. So, overall I'm pleased. Yes, they should have gotten it right the first time, but at least they expedited it and didn't mess around asking for more money.

Fantastic! That's a good outcome, although it is unfortunate that it takes multiple tries. It's strange that we had a very similar experience.

How much did they charge your for the repair. Fuji NJ currently has my 50r and they are charging me 650 us dollars

They are charging me 650 USD. Is that about the same amount they charged you?
