While sorting through some old photos, I came across these old full spectrum images, from a FS modified DP2M that I used to own.

Aside from the wild colors, I couldn't help but notice the yellow cast on some shots, which is also present on my current stock DP2M. These are processed to reduce some of the over-saturated yellow and reds, but you can still see a lot of yellow in some scenes.

Great detail out of this camera, but very difficult to get an essential CWB capture. Any of the regular "DP" models (FS modified) are far better in this regard, with less yellow cast issues.

Oh wow. These look like full spectrum film and not something you can get from a CFA by removing the hot mirror.
FS on the Foveon sensor has a unique look, that's quite different than any FS-modified Bayer-sensor digital I've ever owned.

My experience too. Especially if the SD 1:1:1 Foveon no-filters-on-the-lens X3F is opened in SPP - all you get is bi-chromatic with no green, even with incandescent WB. Never had much luck with Custom WB although some folks have.

My modified Bayer is a Lumix DMC-G1 but that really doesn't count because they left the CFA in place, no idea why.

What you got is not what you saw.

Removing a CFA is a much more involved than swapping out a hot mirror.

Stupid FS newbie question - is this what I have the potential of getting by removing the hot mirror on my sd Quattro? I can’t imagine it’s that simple.

CWB should work on any Sigma with the dust filter/hot mirror removed. I use a grey target (driveway, sidewalk, etc.) in full sun. No filters required.

No need to remove CFA for a Standard full spectrum mod. Only need to remove the hot mirror glass, or replace it with same thickness clear glass on some models.

Removing the CFA mosaic is a far more expensive process, which converts a Bayer sensor to monochrome, with an extended UV range.

The sd Quattro has a hybrid Foveon sensor, so the FS colors won't be the same as the Merrill sensor.

Here are some FS samples from a sd Quattro, that I used to own.

Still pretty interesting. I need to try this - thank you!
