if I understand it correctly, 1/8000sec shutterspeed can only be achieved by a particular type of shutter mechanism and is a hardware feature, not software.

Looks like they are trying not to overlap the GH3 with the ho-hum video options on the EP5. Other than that, it looks like a fantastic little camera.

The 1/8000 shutter with ISO100 really opens up wide aperture daytime shooting quite a bit. The lens priority IS option is nice (would be nice to add to EM5). Focus peaking...check. smaller focus area...check. Seems to address many of the things that caused me to go to the GH3 for still shooting ( and exceeds it in other areas like IBIS and peaking and shutter). No electronic shutter that I see though, which has been handy on occasion.

I just hopr they improved the video codec from the EM5...I can handle the limited options, but I really didn't like the EM5's blocking when there was a lot of movement.

Tuck a duck.

I really, really hope that means that the OM-D E-M6 are going to get ISO100 and 1/8000s. That would be very, very, very useful.

1/4000s means around f/4-3.5 or so in bright light and ISO200 on my E-M5. 1/8000s and ISO100 would drop that to f/2-1.8 without a polarizer!!!

Or for "waterfall" pictures, ISO100 would give another stop of slow down. With my NDx8 that would mean 1/25s in bright sunlight and f/11 or 1/12s at f/16 (I am generally very reluctant to go f/16). A little shade, later/earlier in the day, etc and that easily gets in to more of the 1/2-1/4s or so sweet spot.

Very impressive specs, and also a great looking camera. I'm almost tempted to swap one for my GH3 and get the small BMC for video. Would be a no brainer if Oly could have made it the same size and added a built-in EVF. Even more so if they would finally get serious about video.

Hmmm, now the BLN-1 battery as in the E-M5. That will annoy many Pen owners with spare batteries who may want to upgrade.

Regards...... Guy

I'm curious about that " Time lapse movie". Any idea how that works?

There are 2 things that I see which I would love to see on my EM-5: ISO 100 and shutter speed goes down to 1/8000. At least one of those can be implemented with a fw update, no ?
Maybe The ISO.

I would expect no changes to the E-M5. You will be looking at these features and features in the E-PL5 which the E-M5 does not have, appearing in the E-M6.

There is starting to be a bit of a list of them now, isn’t there?

Cheers, geoff
