Hi, I am new to Leica having just purchased the Leica Q3 43. I watched the Leica videos and a few others and set my custom buttons, thumb wheel, center button and my favorites menu. After all that I updated to’ the newest firmware. I realize now I should have done a firmware update first. All of my settings were returned to the factory defaults. I updated using the Leica Fotos app. What do I need to do next time so my camera settings stay as I set them?

Thank you in advance

Claudia

It has been a while since I have had a firmware update for the CL or M10-R. As I remember, before you install the new firmware, you can back up your custom settings to a SD card. Then after the new firmware is installed, you can import the custom settings. There should be instruction for the firmware update or in the owners manual for the camera.

Yes, this is correct and in the manual and update instructions.

If you have not done so, set your custom settings how you like them and then save as a user profile. You can also make several user profiles for different situations (standard, action, landscape, night, B&W etc.). Assuming you saved your custom settings as a user profile(s), you can backup your user profiles by exporting, and then retrieve by importing. If you are updating using the Fotos app, you are given the option to save (or export) your profiles first before doing the update. After the firmware update, you can then import your profiles. Select the saved profile(s) and you are back to your prior settings. See page 63 of the Q3 user manual.

Great to know I can do this. I tried & tried but could not get to saving profile and creating a new one for a different scenario.
