Is their a newer version out? I got the last updated version from Fuji's website.. but that was a while ago.. I think Kodak still has Fuji Beat on Transfering the pictures with no Hassle.. I really wanted to ask is their a way to "Quicky" dump the images from the SM card to a folder? The way i do it now is Make a folder and Dump all of the pictures their.. If Fuji looks at these bords in the next version of Fine Pix Viewer make a way so we can quicky transfer the pictures from the card to the computer in a "No hassle way"

If you are really interested in dumping the pics from the card to a folder - THEN work on them (ideal .. just as I and I'm sure many others have done for ages) .. then why not give serious thought to a double SM/CF card reader. They really are so cheap now and it's definitely the far better way than fiddling with leads from camera - apart from saving a considerable amount of battert juice in the process. But don't forget - with the 602 you should leave the LAST (highest) pic ON THE CARD - or it will not continue the numbering. But DO get a reader...

I hate the Finepixviewer, never use it and never have it running, not even in the system tray.

I connect the camera or put a card in a USB reader. A new drive is added and from that drive I copy all pictures directly to a photo map.

Finepix viewer is in version 3 now and I love it.

There is a quick automatic save function which copies any folder your pointing into another named folder (defaults to date but can be customised) renames the files (if you wish) and resises them (if you wish). If you use a 6800, 601 or 401 then a single button press will start finepix and do all of the above.

Not only that it does batch resize, batch rename, provides exif data, produces custom index prints of any photos selected with just a few clicks.

The editor is very good for rapid viewing though it has only a very few editing tools, but finepix has custom link buttons to upto 5 other editing packages. It also plays movies and has good slide show function.

Irfan view is very good but I prefer Finepix for most use.

I have only just reailised that I am using version 1.1 (the software provided with my camera). So far it seems to do all I want it to do without any problems.I am somewhat wary of upgrades since ,in my experience they can often lead to problems.

Are the benefits of upgrading to version 3 really worthwhile and can you briefly outline the advantages?

Also where can I get the latest version?

thanks in advance

When i connect my camera or put a card on my reader, the FinePix Viewer starts, and i only have to click on Automatic Save button to transfer the photos, renamed to the date they were taken, to my photos folder! Do you wanna more "No hassle way" ?

You can download the updates here from Fuji:
http://home.fujifilm.com/products/digital/download/index.html

I plug my camera in to the computer, Click on FinePixViewer, Highlight the drive/folder of the camera, click on Automatic Save and that's it. It copies all the pics to a new folder on my harddrive and renames all my pics using a previously saved setting.

Just like Richard said, it has lots of capabilities that can be preformed on a selection of pics, all pics or just one, your choice.
try it!

I have a Fuji 602 and a Kodak 3600, either will work with either's software. The Kodak IS a little more streamlined and you can set it for your preferences.

Another feature I like in Ver 3.0 is the autoresize for e-mailing. Just select the shots you want to e-mail and with one click it will resize the shots and attach them to an e-mail message. It makes sharing shots so much easier and you don't have to save the reduced size shots. I also really like the autosave w/rename & batch rename functionalities. It is NOT an image editing program, but it seems fine for image transfer and quick viewing.

I should say I Already have a Smart Media Card Reader.. A sandisk one.. I don't have any CF media or anything like that.. and I don't Own the 602.. I still own the A101..
  • apart from saving a considerable amount of battert juice in the
process. But don't forget - with the 602 you should leave the LAST
(highest) pic ON THE CARD - or it will not continue the numbering.
But DO get a reader...

Version 3.050E came with the F601.
Also version 2 came with the 6900/6800.

I think new versions are got by clicking the internet service button in Finepix and going from there.
