Finally I got my DP series update, after a decade.

I've always enjoyed my DP cameras because the image quality, but also the small, compact size, with a small pancake lens integrated. Especially the DP2Q, with decent battery life, upgraded AF and operation speed compared DP2M. I had the SDQ before I got the DP2Q but I always preferred the DP because of the size and leaf shutter.

After a decade I finally get the upgrade, no it's not the BF, but the GFX100RF. It's not Foveon, but at 100MP there are very little compromise even with a Bayer sensor. The area of the sensor is huge, with the small lens produces excellent sharp, high contrast images. It's quite compact, thin, has leaf shutter, and even better than DP series: EVF and tilting screen.

I know it's not exactly a Sigma forum content, but it's like a modernised DP series camera to me (for a fortune).

Thinking of the same thing. The 35 mm equiv focal length is the same as the DP1M, my favorite FL(28mm). And the viewfinder is a must have for me. I like the idea of the BF but the reason I dont use the DPs that much is the lack of a viewfinder.

Good choice, Lukacs.

I like to use my GFX50R with the GF50mm pancake for the same reasons. I can't really justify the price of the GFX100RF.

Enjoy!

2-3 years later on used market the price will be more friendly. Buying a just released high-end consumer camera not the best financial decision of course, especially the this type with low demand.

All my DP2's had an optical viewfinder - I think it was a Voigtlander - in the hot-shoe (I rarely use flash). The expensive Sigma hot-shoe viewfinder has too small a view for my taste.

Congrats.

I got a GFX 50S II for similar reasons. I don't need the full 100 megapixels.

I'm already quite happy with it.

It doesn't have quite the Foveon feel to it.

But at 300x zoom, just add a bit of sharpening and I don't miss Foveon as much. (no sharpening added in this, just Adobe defaults.)

I had the Sigma viewfinders and they are small and I did not get used to them. Lost the one for the DP1M somewhere

I got a fpL for these reasons.

A lot of pixels can almost but not quite equal Foveon, even when downsized to 1/4 original pixels.

I think the color palette also has a lot to do with it. Bayer can't match it.
