Error 99 on 350D?

So, my (t)rusty old 350D blocks with err 99. It doesn't err without flash card or lens, cleaned the lens contacts for both camera and EFS 17-85 IS USM, to no avail. Anything else I can try?

Give it a smack(twice), insert another memory card and lens and see how it goes. If the behaviour remains, you can assume the camera is worn out.

Try getting a 500D for peanuts or another 350D, because not all of them stop working at the same time.

The 17-85 is very much known for getting defective and giving a 99 then. Probably the aperture is stuck.

A Canon dealer tried a different lens on my body, and it worked flawlessly. So, it is the lens, indeed.
