Hello all!
If this question is not appropriate in this forum, please point me in the right direction. I have cleaned the capping station with Windex. This involved turning the unit on, waiting for the print head to move to the other side, and then unplugging the printer. The print head could move but with some resistance. This is where I think I made my mistake for it did not move freely by hand. Then after flushing the capping station pads, I turned the unit back on. This is when the print head floated to the capping station and then an unusual sound came from the mechanism there. It sounded like two cogged wheels slipping against each other. Then the message came up to send the unit to a an Epson repair facility. OOPS
What can I do with this problem? I wanted to take the top housing off, but I have to take the other housings off, like the side housings, in order to do this. The Epson 3880 maintenance manual does look complex to me. Any ideas? Perhaps there is a YouTube video for this that someone knows about?

Update: The capping station came loose. This may have been the problem. Now what? meaculpa! LOL
