That control input to the right of the EVF..it's called a M-Fn Bar...what I would call a touch bar like the newest MacBook Pro's...

You can set for a variety of functions, like ISO, white balance, AF, etc...this could be a game changer. Imagine changing ISO on the fly by simply swiping your finger, or tweaking white balance...or of course moving the AF points.

We will see in actual use, but that is very innovative. If it ends up being a useful UI, then it will have huge impact.

Why is it that I get the feeling that some people are going to be disappointed by the 4K specs, either because of cropping, or line skipping and severe rolling shutter :D ?

On the plus side this spec list gives me very strong M50 vibes in terms of pricing strategy. Which will then make the launch L lenses look out of place until Canon releases a higher end body.

No Eye AF

shame.
Not so sure about Eye-AF. Even though it’s not mentioned I would be EXTREMELY surprised since they already have it in the cheap M50

I'm very interested in seeing how this new rear pad is going to work.

Also, any idea what the flexible priority exposure mode is ("Fv") ? In general I get the feeling that Canon has tried a few interesting things here and there in terms of exposure controls.

There is no info about 4K crop factor. Could it be that there is no crop?

Also no info about number of dots in EVF.

Nope. Just that it isn't mentioned.

But prepare yourself for a big disappointment as a lot of clues suggest poor 4K specs :

- low fps with AF (5fps in shutter priority, ie when the camera doesn't really care if it's achieved AF or not, 3fps in focus priority), 120fps video in 720p only : these specs suggest a slow sensor readout speed. This means that either Canon crops the sensor to only read a smaller area of it, or skips lines when reading it. Either way it's bad.

- Max suggested ISO is halved in 4K : this suggest that it's cropped, as the reason Canon would suggest a lower ISO in 4K would be to maintain a similar noise performance in 1080p and 4K.
Also no info about number of dots in EVF.
Expect nothing impressive.

I had to read it twice to make sure I didn't make a mistake: 5655 AF points. OMG. That and the focus sensitivity to -6EV. This thing could be an AF beast.
-6 EV with a f/1.2 lens. In one-shot mode so expect slow AF.

Sony a9 is -4EV with a f1.4 lens so close spec.

5 fps shooting priority /3 fps tracking priority with servo AF. 20 fps on Sony a9😩😢

Have a nice day.

David

If nothing else this rumour winkles out the pessimists and the optimists. ;-)

Haha, and yet even though I nowadays set my expectations as low as I can, I still get disappointed !

One or two cards? This raised a storm in Nikon camp, not so much here it seems. You are also lucky, it seems the Sony mob wasted all their energy with the Z launch. 😉

sad, but it's more - no joystick, weather sealenig, thumb rest, s-log, slow motion 120p full hd, 10bit 422, probably crop 4K and lower EVF res, max 5fps.

A7III and Z6 seem better choice... I am sure Panasonic will also offer more...
I think what we need is a "What it hasn't got" forum. Open to all brands and people who are convinced they could do the design and planning job better than those who's job it is.

Or perhaps one just titled "Misery" would do the trick?

I think the touchscreen can be used for moving the AF points, as on the M5. That would be awesome.
weather sealenig, thumb rest, s-log,
C-log is stated!

Hmm... Imagine ACCIDENTALLY changing ISO or aperture "on the fly by simply swiping your finger". With a click wheel / dial, you have a distinct tactile feedback. I hope this touch bar vibrates, clicks or beeps or does something... or you should enable it deliberately before changing the value, and then disable it - sounds like a chore...
