EM5 and raw support in iOS

I got an omd em5 mark iii right before the shut down. I have used it mainly for personal snapshots. I have shot in jpeg. I love Olympus jpegs. It’s quite a capable performer. I recently took a job to shoot a real estate listing. I have not done one in a long time. I figured I would try using my em5. I always try stuff before the actual shoot. I took some bracketed shots for hdr in raw. I tried to import them by WiFi via the io share app. After the import it said file not supported by iOS. Then it put a black picture in my photos. I am running version 13.6, the latest version of iOS. Can the camera really still be not supported? Now, I will just use my older canon gear instead. It has a bigger sensor and I have a little wider of a lens anyway. Is there something I am missing? I did find this:

It leads me to believe there is support?

This page lists supported cameras and the E-M5 III isn't in the list. Why does it leads you to believe it is supported? I can confirm ORF files from the E-M5 III aren't supported by the system in MacOS, so I assume the same for iOS. Disappointing for sure considering the camera is over 6 months old.

If you're used to shooting jpegs, what prevents you from shooting your bracketed shots in JPEG or RAW+JPEG?

iOS supports Olympus RAW images. I’ve been doing it for a couple of years. Before that I imported Panasonic RAW images. I’m pretty sure that iOS has supported RAW images for four or five years already. I have never had a problem. I import photos into my phone all the time for sharing with friends or editing social media photos on the go. Maybe RAW images aren’t supported by WiFi transfer? I use Apple’s SD card to lightning adapter to import photos. It couldn’t be easier to use and is fast at USB 3 speeds if you have an iPhone 8 or later I think.

Would ORF files from the Pen-F and other Olympus cameras and EM5 III really be different? Isn’t it supposed to be the same RAW format? Maybe the list just hasn’t been updated.

The way it works is they have to update raw support for every new camera. So like my old pen ep5 is supported every new camera needs the added even though they are all .orf files.

All I know is every time a new camera gets out, the RAW converters (built-in or from third party such as Adobe) need to be updated to support the new files. My computer natively support ORF files from my E-M10 II, not from my E-M5 III. Same thing with my (now outdated) version of DxO.

I don't know what the actual differences are in the format between two models of the same brand. In some cases it may just be a model number and some extra fields, but I guess if the software doesn't recognise the model, it won't try to open the file as it hasn't been validated.

It’s dumb. They have to add support for every new camera. It’s usually people complaining about a camera that is 3 months old. Not 8 months old!

I will give them a break because of the whole stutdown but it can’t be hard to add.
