I'm in the process of upgrading from a 2017 iMac to a Mac Studio with the Studio Display monitor. In the course of doing this, I have been exploring the 'display' section of the System Settings panel. I am getting confused about resolution. I'm usually pretty good with computers but , not this time :-(
Both the Studio Display and the iMac are 5K displays (5120 x 2880). My new Mac Studio gives me five options to select display resolution. The 'default' one is 2560 x 1440 (50% of the 5K linear resolution). The highest options gives 3200 x 1800. The same options are there with the iMac. Changing to a different resolution does affect the size of objects on the screen such as: text and windows.
Why, if I have a 5K monitor, does the system not offer a full size display option? I did notice that, if I switch the display options to 'list view', I get a 5120x2880 option but not in the standard view.
Does this means that my photos are not displaying at 5K? Or is this just affecting text display and not images?
Any comments/advice greatly appreciated.
