Cheers everyone.
I am coming from years of shooting film on M bodies. No matter what everyone else says, based on my experience of shooting the Zf with the 40/2 and SB400 in the streets during the evening hours, the AF hunts back and forth (especially when focusing on dark subjects) before confirming focus when stopping down past f/4, which makes using AF-S and AF-C for quick street snapshots in poorly lit environment very frustrating at times. AF is otherwise excellent in bright/dim lighting situations.
This makes me resort to manual focusing very often...therefore I am quite bummed that Nikon has not implemented a digital depth of field indicator similar to the one found in the Ricoh GR series. I find the current "flower - mountain" indicator rather offensive. Especially when using lenses with electronic contacts, it should be relatively straightforward for a lens maker like Nikon to do this...show me at what distance I am focusing, and a lower bar that extends or shrinks as I am stopping down or opening the aperture. Is it that hard, software-wise, for people in the know? As it is now, I have to rely all the time to zoom in/out to check the focus with a custom button set to 50% zoom as even at f/11 the 40mm does not have a very forgiving DoF. I have Leica lenses that I could adapt on the Zf, however I like to keep things as simple as possible and I don't quite like the look of small wide-angle RF lenses on digital bodies.
