An experiment with an interesting shadow created by the ironwork over the window in our front door. At first I was shooting just the shadow against the wall, but wanted to push the idea a bit. One could certainly envision a better model for this sort of thing, but this is a rough "proof" of the idea:

Don't cringe!

It's a good idea, and I think you have some interesting shadows. The particular torso you have is kind of flat, like it almost could be a wall.

Not to be a male chauvinist, but I think this idea could be really expanded by using the curves of a female form to interact with those shadows, kind of watch the shadows of the ironwork stretch and distort as they go around the curves and corners.

I agree, and so does my girlfriend, though I don't think she will volunteer for the shot. Nevertheless, it's something to keep in mind when I come back to this idea...

Now Greg... That's quite a tattoo you got yourself there. Is that any sort of druidic rite? :-)

I see you're keeping yourself in good shape. Carrying the D1 around and all. :-)

YANSBGD. That stands for "Yet another great shot by Greg Durrett", which I'll use for those moments when I just want to buy you a beer instead of giving you the fancy pseudo-know-it-all-critique words: "great composition, very engaging, etc..."

You know how I find your photos: Simple, elegant and great "design". So, when you see the acro, you know what I mean.
Hope you also know I say so when I don't really like something... :-)

Well Greg, no great offense, but I suspect that Frances could supply some torsos that WOULD work just a bit better for me. He has enough PhotoShop ability that we may see something appear further down this thread using your photograph as a starting point. But the idea and the execution are worthwhile just the same.

YAOYIAs (Yet Another Of Your Interesting Abstracts - don't worry, I won't remember it)

Why the d1 users often post black an white pictures ?

it's often not art, it because the d1 doesn't have vivid colors, so it looks better in sw mode.

But a nice shot...looks like Spain flamenco!

The beauty lies not in the body, but in the comfort one has living in their own skin. I like this picture very much!

Great shadow and great idea, Greg! I look forward to you developing this theme, and maybe even zooming in a bit on parts of a torso. But this is great stuff. Always enjoy your abstracts....
