...but seeing the GXR modules to come...CX3 FL and GR series 28mm in a APS-C sensor and the already GX series 24-72mm im under the impression that in the future if i want a Ricoh camera i will have to buy the GXR first and then decide which FL and sensor. Im i wrong? do you guys think the other previous series will go on?

Carlos, I have been surprisingly happy with the GX100 I bought for my briefcase (and not to worry if something happens to it while the car is parked). It is great for my outdoor shots during the day as I travel. The GRlll is still a camera I love.... The GXR has a wonderful feel, the A 12, 50mm is a very nice lens, and while I do not try to put it in a pocket it is not cumbersome when put on your wrist for a day of shooting. I don't know in what direction Ricoh is going, if I had thought they were going to do a GX300 I would have bought the GRDlll and waited, but having said that now that I have the GXR I have no regrets. I am very happy with all of the Ricoh cameras that I have used to date.

....good to know that your enjoying your GX100 (that i actually tought you had buy to your daughter? smile). And yes the GRD3 seems a i wild beast. As for the GXR, i still think is a great tool for having axcellent IQ with the A12 50mm and upcoming 28mm, versatility with the S10 and P10 ( im interested to see how RAW files from the BSI will perform). If i had the money, would be a definitely choice. Having that said, didnt you have a CX1? I would like to ask you if you think its possible to shoot the HDR function with subjects that dont move quick (lets say you take a shot at 1/30, do you think is possible to shoot at HDR function?). Thanks a lot...

Carlos, I never us the HDR on the CX so I am not a good person to reply to that question, sorry.

I did buy the GX100 for my daughter and liked it so much got one for myself (I got a fair deal so it made it a no brainer for me, just put in the briefcase for everyday use).

The GRX just outperforms it, but only when you get to higher ISO's, but i only am shooting jpgs with the GX and processing raw, or trying to with the GXR.

For sure the 50mm module is crystal and I am very happy they are going to do the 28mm as well......

Hope all is good with you, I fight each day to make sure I can get a couple of more years with my company, fight against their interference with my business, truly unbelievable.

I won't try to correct you... as I have the same "feeling". Altough I can't believe Ricoh will let two popular lines like the excelent/"pro" GRD and the accessible CX drop out. It seems too risky as strategy, I wonder...

Rui, I cannot imagine doing away with the GRD line or the CX line, it may be Ricoh's bread and butter...there are plenty of us that still like small sensor cameras and something small to carry around. Even thought I have the GXR I would not be upset if they introduced at GX300.

Altough not having a GXR, I couldn't agree more with you!

...im sorry for what happened at Ilha da Madeira (similar to what happened at Angra dos Reis here?)...i agree with you, it seems a riky strategy from Ricoh, but....

Carlos, thanks. We can feel it more when it's very near us, isn't it?

I'm sorry for all this tragedies, beeing near or far from us.

Somehow, humans tend to learn by errors. Let us hope that the mystakes from the past get corrected in the future. Altought Nature sometimes shows the full power, which we simply cannot "control" or defend from, many times it's us who gets in the way, I mean, in the wrong way...

BTW, no news from Angra after the days of the tragedy. How are things there? We hear about lots of rain and floods in SP, something is really wrong about weather!

Me too...

I totally agree with you. But unfortunatelly im a pessimist regarding people...unknown and dark interests seem to rule decisions to be made by any government. Citizens interests are left aside. So nature, sonner or later will prevail. I still believe that honest man tend to not have the power enough to influence people by force or by filosophy to get things right....we are in the wrong way for some time now...there is a interesting documentary on the history channel for some time now, it shows the earth without the humans and animal life...first day, month, year untill 10000 years and etc...by 10000 there will almost no sign that humans lived here....
BTW, no news from Angra after the days of the tragedy. How are things there? We hear about lots of rain and floods in SP, something is really wrong about weather!
In Angra, nothing more than 70% of constructions are irregulars (out of law), but theres no tragedy by some time, so the midia dont care (and the people too). Here the rain seems to never stop. In a 70 days period, i guess we had like 4 without it...

Sorry for the long post...anyway, like i said to Joel...fell free to contact me next time in Brasil...to eat that Bauru at ponto chic....

Best.....

Only a matter of time until they make a GRDIII equivalent sensor/lens and the GRDIII will not be replaced. Maybe the CX series will continue as their entry-level camera.

This poses the problem of size. The replacement for the GRDIII is likely to be larger physically and no longer easily belt-wearable. Therefore to continue to buy Ricoh would mean to commit to a GXR back and how ever much that might cost. The sensor would probably go to aps-c size as a consolation - but it would nevertheless be 'the same' but "a different" camera at once.

It is not a complete shut-out for me but I still remain to be convinced. As my GRDI still works fine many years down the track I am anticipating that my GRDIII will also give long service and may well see out my photography needs.

Just as Ricoh made a classic in the GR film-based camera they have probably made another classic in the GRD series. Like the film-based ancestor those that own a GRD may in the end just be owners of a discontinued but true classic camera.

I believe that the GRDIII was and is the very best camera Ricoh could make at the time. It remains only to upgrade sensors as better sensors become available. Maybe a cmos? However the back and controls are verging on perfect and to change anything is to fiddle with perfection to its detriment. This is proven by the fact that Ricoh can standardise what is effectively the GRDIII back in the GXR and expect that it will serve as such for the forseeable future.

I am always trying ...

HDR is a bit patchy - you certainly would not use it always but if you have a reasonably still subject and steady hands or a tripod it can work very well. It has a nice effect if you put it on strong.

It is just another photographic tool and I would not use it constantly but only as the opportunity suited.

regarding the GRD series, i agree that the cameras will become classics, if no longer available. The sad part is that for us GX owners the sensor from the GRD will never become available. And it seems that for the CX series owners RAW option will come in the new P10...so one more appealing feature to try to convince ricoh users to enter the GXR territory...

Thanks for the HDR tips, im actually trying to have more wide DR from a compact...good to know how it works....

P10, what did I miss?

I may have to scrimp and save to get a GRDlll, but that is indeed redundant, but maybe I don't care.

...the name (untill now) of the upcoming 28-300mm module for the GXR Joel...how about wait a little and buy the 28mm module? or do you prefer the GRD3 smaller size?
