Ok fellas, I took the plunge and ordered the C2020 off of http://www.buy.com . My palms were sweating, but I did it!...(

Now can anyone tell me where I can find a card reader? Both the Imagemate (Sandisk) and SmartMedia Digital Film Reader are backordered on http://www.buy , so that lets them out. I'm looking for the parallel port one, because who knows if I have USB on my computer....don't think I do. Am going to order a 32 MG card today, too. Anything else I need to have this camera up and running when I get it? Thanks for all the advice. And ya'll do make house calls when I get this camera and can't figure it out, don't you????

You may try this universal card reader by Lexar:

http://www.digitalfilm.com/products/readers_main.html

(universal digital film reader (parallel))

http://shopper.cnet.com/shopping/resellers/1,10231,0-7085-311-1589820,00.html?tag=st.sh.sr.pl.pr1589820

(it seems to be in stock in some places)

There's not much info on it though, so you might give Lexar tech support a call to check if you can use Smartmedia cards in it directly without an adapter.

Check this thread, Bradly seems to have experience with this reader:

What I did was order an extra charger and batteries and so when the camera arrived, I did not have to wait until the Olympus batteries were charged. That was how excited I was. Anyways, you would need the extra batteries. Loving my 2020.

Hi Pam,

I use the Lexar parallel reader at the office and running WIN-NT.
What operating system do you have?

With NT and it is a pain.... have to turn the computer off every time I insert a card. Don't know how it works with WIN-98.
I use it with Compact Flash card from a 950.

At home I have a C2020 and use the Diskette adapter, slow but works every time and don't have to turn the computer off.

Study the situation before you jump in.

Thanks, Misha. I'll check it out.

I bought a charger and set of batteries at Radio Shack for around $20.
I have yet to used them. The ones with the camera last a long time.
And start shooting everyting in sight...remember it cost nothing and you
can erase the pics. Have fun.
And when you are ready for printed pictures go to:
http://www.ofoto.com or http://www.printroom.com
To see them on the computer try:

Have fun,

Pam -

I just received my Imagemate USB reader the other day from buy.com. Must have gotten it just in time. I love it, fast and easy to download pictures. You may want to consider the following options for you camera:

Recharageable batteries

Lens armor - you can research through this site I choose the Raynon PNF202 41mm- 37mm lens holder tube kit with a Kenko UV filter through bugeyedigital.com.

Camera case - I choose the Tamarac Digital 6 - I think I bought it through photoalley.
Minimum of 32Meg smartmedia card.

I love my new 2020z. Good luck with yours.
