I really like this camera and I'm looking to buy it but can someone please help me deside or let me know cons and pros. I see that some people have problems with batteries, is this true? Thanks, Peter

I have the 770 which is the same camera plus a few perks, but the lens and everything else is the same. It takes just beautiful pictures - you will be just thrilled. It does take some getting used to, like every other camera - the beauty of it is you can start out with just point and shoot in auto mode and then work your way up to the more advanced settings. The colors are beautiful, pictures are sharp, and as far as batteries are concerned, I haven't had a problem with them. I have three of them (1 in camera, and two spares - duh) and take them with me in the bag all fully charged. They do need to be recharged more often than the AA's. The original Olympus battery came with the camera, the other two I purchased on ebay for $19 including shipping and they work just fine. I know how you feel, tho, we all go through the same quandry, I think, trying to decide if this is the right one. Well, it sure was for me, hopefully for you, too. Hope this helps.

Peter,

I have the C-740 and love it. The C-765 is a direct replacement for the C-740 so I would expect it to be an equally good camera. I personally have reservations about using the Lithium Ion batteries over the NiHm, but the performance of the Lithium is so much better that unless you already have several sets of NiHm and chargers I wouldn't let that stop you.

However, you need to know that the C-740 and C-765 do NOT support an external flash, nor do they support the IR remote. This is not a problem for me because I have the C-5050 that supports both. These two features allow you to use a wide selection of both TTL and auto flashes and the IR remote allows you to take long exposures on a tripod without camera shake (the other option is to use the timer which will work in most cases).

These two features alone (there are others) are worth the extra money for the C-770. Personally, I would choose either the 750 or the 770 over the 765.

Hi Peter,

I have owned the C-765 for about a month now, and I absolutely love it. I had no previous experience with digital photography, and I'm quite pleased with the C-765 as a first camera. The battery has not given me any trouble, but I have a spare one with me all the time, because it does not last a whole day.

As far as the difference with the C-770 is concerned, that is of course an assessment that everyone has to make for him/herself. I chose the C-765 over the C-770 because I was planning on taking lots of outside pictures in broad daylight, and I didn't think I would have much use for an external flash and a remote control. I have not been sorry yet...

Good luck with your choice,

muriel

Peter,

I also am thinking of purchasing C750.

However, I am not certain about the battery type efficiency.

Lithium Ion rechargeable is the only facility installed.

These are very expensive and owning 2 would form a good proportion of the cost of the camera.

I am shortly going to the Galapagos - lots of shots travelling on small boat.

a) where can one recharge batteries - could be sailing for 10 days

b) also is the recharger able to operate for variable voltages eg. Europe, USA, SA etc?

Anyone know a way round this apparent problem. The C750 Ultra Zoom lens would be ideal combined with the compact size of the camera.
