Finally a nice (reasonably warm) day in New York. Decided to take advantage of the weather to go to the Bronx Zoo.

This was my favorite of the day...

We had a springtime day here in the low 70s, but here I sit waiting on my 10D with the D60 sold. Darn it.

Shot was taken at ISO 200. The only noise I see is the slight shadow of the chain fence in the background. Perhaps it's the down-res'd picture... have a look at a larger one...

I remember going through the exact same problem when I sold my D30 and waited for my D60. When I finally got the camera, I was so disappointed that I returned it and bought a 1D... haven't looked back since!

You can tell by the spots on their noses. Harriet has a sprinkling of black on her nose, but Ivy has distinct black spots. I am glad to see them together Ivy, the mother, seems to have had enough of parenting and has been growling at Harriet so that she can have that heated rock all to herself. Her other daughter Sherry is or has gone to Canada and her son, Bailey I is his name, is off exhibit. It is still breeding season so you might hear a loud cross between a meow & a roar. They have been making a racket for the last few months, but hopefully that will mean there will be some cubs this summer.

Did you get any of the two baby giraffes? Also the snowy owls have been very cooperative lately.

Glad you had a good day.

Very good photos Erik.

Which animals where outside? I would think the Snow Leopards,
bears and seals would be outside, but what about the others animals?

I was planing to go again to the zoo but I have my fill of photos
of these animals.

Hi Bill

Thanks. The snow leopards were out, as were the brown bears, buffalo, polar and polar bears. The lions, cheetahs and most of the birds were not. Construction on the new tiger exhibit was in full swing and hopefully will be ready later in spring. I only spent about 1.5 hours there so I didn't get a chance to see everything.

I'm looking forward to going to the Bronx Zoo as soon as it warms up and all the animals are out. What lenses do you typically bring to the zoo?

Do you guys/gals usually go with other photographers, with your family, or alone?

I bring my 1D with a 70-200L 2.8IS together with a 1.4X converter and my 24-70L. I go either alone or with if someone arranges a day out on this forum.

Now there's a good idea. Anybody here energetic enough to arrange a Bronx Zoo Day?

Why would you guys sale your cameras before the new one comes? That's seem kinda odd. I'm waiting, then I'm selling.
