Have any of you tried the noise reduction program Noiseware? From my own testing it seems as good as or better than Noise Ninja or Neat Image, but some of you might have done more in-depth testing. The results I got from a 3200 ISO image from Olympus E-1 was far better than anything else I have seen. The link to the unfiltered 3200 ISO image can be found at http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/E1/E1INI3200.HTM . Noiseware can be found at http://www.imagenomic.com/download.asp (Free download)

Where other programs produce rather ugly results if you try to remove all the noise from an image like that, Noiseware gives you an image which is far more acceptable, but, of course, not perfect.
It's extremely fast as well...

--I downloaded the program without any difficulty and like it very much. I ordered a noise reduction plug-in for photoshop for $99 and I think I like Noiseware even better. Thanks for this link. Since I use the E-1, I don't have lot of use for this software, but I still use my E-10 and the pics are noisy at ISO 320.

I used it on a noisy jpg that I first converted to Bitmap before finishing in PS. Very clean layout and easy to use. Excellent result. Can't beat the price.

Be aware that the free version of the program only allows saving to jpeg, but there is a workaround:

After cleaning the image, right click on it and choose copy. Then go to photoshop, create a new layer (new in the file menu, or ctrl-N) and paste it in using CTRL-V. After that you can save it as anything you like is PS.

For easy transfer of images to the program you can either drag-and-drop to the program or (which I find easier), right click on the image in the file listing (you don't need PS) and choose "open with", and add noiseware to the list. This works with win XP as least, don't know about other OS.

Bjoernar: Now that you mention that the free program only saves to JPEG's, it now makes sense: you can upgrade to the professional version for a price. I could not understand why anyone would give away such an excellent program. I hope more people read your post. This is a gem and it is FREE.

i have eMule (peer to peer download program) and downloaded for free the craked version of noise ninja (the best with neat image)

maybe u can find it also on kazaa;-)

ps or you can buy it;-)

it will process a .bmp file within the program. It was a very large file and processed and corrected it in about 5 seconds. Saved it as a jpg, then off to PS. Give it a try. Thanks again for making this available. I hope they come out with a pro version that will work within PS.

I downloaded this program and it cleans up my pictures just fine. They look good on my 19' LCD but the size of the jpg files are dramatically reduced. For instance I just cleaned up two files: one 5.584KB and one 2.884KB. The resulting saves were 601KB and 358KB. Is this normal because the noise is gone? Haven't I lost a lot of data, eventhough the pictures on the monitor look good.? There was no option on jpg reduction.

In the Noiseware, menu, go to view/options and check the position of the slider for jpeg quality. Put it all the way to 100% for the lowest compression if needed.

Why bother with cracked versions of commercial programs when NoiseWare do the same job better, faster and for free?

I recently purchased the Noise Reduction Pro Plug-in from the Imaging Factory for $99. I does work as a plug-in with PhotoSop CS. What I like about NoiseWare is that you can choose your settings either by pull down or you can custom set them. With Noise Reduction Pro, the last settings are the current settings for the next picture. I think NoiseWare is faster and has more options than Noise Reduction Pro.

BTW, I don't think people on this forum should be guiding other users about pirating software. That's bad form.

Frankly I've found Noiseware to be far worse than NeatImage or NoiseNinja. NW produce totally unrealistic images to my eyes. The samples found on their "see for youself" page ( http://www.imagenomic.com/see.asp ) are completely honest, this is exactly what you will get. If you find the filtered boys image realistic, then go for NW. To my eyes, it doesn't look like a photography anymore and I much prefer the original.

Have you tried to filter one of your own images? The samples are not giving you the whole story. You will need to fine-tune a bit to get the best results. If you use Noise Ninja at the highest settings the results are even worse...

Bjoernar, I was not directing that comment to you. Shareware is meant to be shared . I was mentioning getting cracked copies of Noise Ninja off the internet. These are licensed copies of software. Advocating piracy on a web site of this stature is inappropriate.

...went to the Noiseware site and tried to download it, the script highlights when you place the cursor over it, but when you click the mouse, nothing happens, it just sits there...anyone else experiencing this?

Just downloaded both win98 and XP versions, only took a few seconds.
