I dropped my camera for the first time ever since I bought it and shattered the uv filter, fortunately the rest of the camera is ok!

i've looked at different videos on how one can get them off, but i'm not so confident. Have anyone here had the same problem and/or have a solution for this?

Many thanks in advance!

As you can see on the picture, the whole bent side on the left causes problems to unscrew it
I was too stupid and put it on too tight :/

Do you have good quality pliers that can grab onto that bent in edge to try and straighten it out a bit? It looks like the only way to remove is to mechanically remove parts of the filter :(

I'd also try to remove any washers/parts that hold the glass in the filter before removing the filter frame from the lens. Hopefully you can pop out that glass first, without harming the front lens element.

Ramon, This is what I would do:

Take a needle nose pliers and bend rim back

Put on a pair of heavy rubber gloves to grip well and remove filter.

Clean entire area with a rocket blower.

Good luck.

Happened to me with an old manual metal lens. Filter broke and bent, lens was fine. I straightened the filter rim as much as possible with pliers then tried with rubber, sticky tape, etc. The problem is that you are bending the filter when you force hold it (as there is no glass to preserve the shape and filters are thin and soft). In the end, I grabbed it with pliers on a single point and carefully rotated it. It worked out well, but since you are working with a plastic lens with plastic filter thread be very gentle.

P.S. Auto correct, I hate you...

Hi all of you! I want to thank you all for the quick responses! i'll try my best to remove it without causing additional damage to the lens!

Again, thanks a lot for the responses!

Cheers!

if you could remove the glass i am sure you could then get the metal rim out easier?

It's off!! Thank you all for your advice! The rest of the Lens is fine!!!

I always shoot with my Lens Hood on as well as my UV filters.

Perhaps you should too.
