If you’re new to photography, one of the biggest questions you’ll face is: What camera should I start with? 📷

With so many options—DSLRs, mirrorless cameras, compact point-and-shoots, and even smartphones—it can be overwhelming to decide what’s best for you.

Things to Consider as a Beginner:

📸 Budget: Are you looking for an entry-level camera or willing to invest in a higher-end model?
🔍 Type of Photography: Do you prefer landscape, portrait, wildlife, or street photography? Different cameras cater to different needs.
⚖️ Portability: A bulky DSLR offers great quality, but a compact mirrorless camera might be more convenient.
📷 Lenses & Accessories: Some cameras allow interchangeable lenses, while others have a fixed lens. What’s better for your style?

Popular Beginner-Friendly Cameras in 2025:

✅ Canon EOS R50 – A solid mirrorless option with great autofocus.
✅ Sony A6400 – Excellent for vlogging & travel photography.
✅ Nikon Z30 – Compact and beginner-friendly for those new to mirrorless.
✅ Fujifilm X-T30 II – Great for those who love color science and vintage aesthetics.

Your Thoughts?

If you’re a beginner, what are your biggest concerns when choosing a camera? And if you're experienced, what camera did you start with, and what would you recommend for newcomers? Let’s discuss! 🎞️📷✨

Two thoughts in relation to your list, and I'll keep them concise:

Also consider Micro 4/3.

Don't **** around with viewfinderless cameras. They're hopeless in bright daylight, and deprive you of the option of holding the camera to your eye - a good way to take photos, and a good way to learn to take photos.
