I am traveling to Europe in two weeks. In the past I've had my camera and film bag hand checked to avoid the xray machines. Now I have a Canon G2 digital. Is there any danger in sending it or the Compactflash cards through the new security systems?

No problem with the xray, but they may inspect and have you power it up to make sure it is a camera.

The only thing that will currently damage CF cards is the irradiation that mail goes through....

Xrays will not harm digital camera memory. Only the USPS irradiation for Anthrax will. Here are some links that may help with film and airport scanners:

Hope this helps
