Been using computers for decades but can't get this simple process completed. I'm attempting to use Adobe Bridge as my photo browser for Affinity Photo. Adobe Bridge is installed but no desktop icon was created. I try to create an icon with the appropriate EXE file but it does not load the software when I click on it. It loads a File Explorer-type window. If I find the EXE file in Windows File Explorer and click on it, it loads Adobe Bridge. Makes no sense to me. Any help would be appreciated.

I have a new Lenovo computer with Windows 11.

Not at my PC now but the only time I experienced something similar was if the exe was hidden due to a sandbox type installation.

However, and sorry if I state the obvious, IIRC if you find the launcher in the Start Menu and right click that there is a choice in the actions available of "create a shortcut". NB I am on Windows 10.

Though I normally, like you outline, find the .exe using windows explorer and right click > create desktop shortcut and I am good to go.

HTH :)

When all else fails, I usually try reinstalling, but try right clicking on install exe and run as administrator as well as to temporarily disabling any antivirus from running during the install.

Regards,

Michael

Thank you. I uninstalled and reinstalled -- got the Bridge desktop icon to work but can't get Bridge to use Open With so it loads Affinity Photo. Affinity for some odd reason does not put their files in a typical Windows Program directory. Did find a way to use Windows File Explorer to browse my raw files. One has to download an update called Raw Image Extension. I do not have any current cameras, but it works with my raw files for the Canon 7D mk II and Sony RX10 IV. I've set my file associations to all open with Affinity Photo. This works just fine for me. Only took about two hours to get it sorted.

Affinity have both 'sandboxed' & standard installers available.....just make sure you select the MSI not the MSIX installer(s)!

Not sure you’ve tried this- open windows explorer, go to windows program 86, right click the bridge icon (maybe in adobe folder), you should see an option to pin to task bar.. can always copy paste to desktop. Worth a try.

also windows 11 can view cr3 raw files

Thank you. Must have installed the sandboxed version. For now, I’ll just go with it.

Just looked on their website. MSIX is the default. For a novice like me, I would not know the difference. Think I will look at downloading the MSI version. Thanks again.
