A9's High ISO "Web/grid structure?" on A1 and A9iii too?

Hi,

so since the A1ii launched i started thinking (again) about a future upgrade (once i have money and the price for used A1i drops below 3k) anyways i was wondering if the A1 and the A9iii (purly out of interest) experience the same in high ISO and lowlight situations. Every now and then i end up with pictures that experience a web or grid like structure when i push the shadows to far in high ISO low light situations. Its not a big problem but every event i end up with 2-3 images and it can happen that one slips through due to me applying the denoise in bulk when done with editing a the whole thing(co it feels more time efficient). Anyways do other stacked or global shutter sensors the same when pushing the lows in high iso? I've never had this kind of problem with the A7iii but i prefer the A9 for obvious reasons (speed, AF, faster boot up)

I know i could use a flash but i just dont like the shooting experience when using one, pp would be much easier tho.

If i have to push the lows hard i can get it at around ISO6400.

Example: weblike pattern in suit. Im aware that teh sample image is sharp enough at best and this was the latest example ;)

If A1 and A9iii experience the same issue than it might help me to tame my G.A.S. a little :-D

Thanks for your Help!

I have noticed the same with my A9, and was surprised to see this. However, I noticed that reducing sharpness slightly takes care of the issue. Not a big deal, but surprising nonetheless. I wonder why it happens 🤔

Seems we are alone here

I am assuming you are shooting raw as you didn't say.

Have you tried processing the problematic raw images through DXO PureRaw? In case you haven't used it before it will let you output a DNG rather than a TIFF so you have full flexibility with post processing. I think there's a 1 month trial period...

Since this only happens to a very small number of images, using this on those may be an option, if it works.

This is very likely a software issue, I experienced this I think on a7R II, and it was fixed by Lightroom update.

Logically, how could even sensor exhibit this pattern? I think I see this pattern sometimes when working in Lightroom, but it disappears when changing window size or similar, it should not be visible in exported photo.

Ok I found it, it was here

it was a7r IVA and culprit lens profile, I have been switching cameras a lot recently so confused. Just report this to adobe or whatever tool you are using.

Awesome i gonna look into that. Ive recently red that lens profiles render the 125gm useless for astro but didnt think far enought to consider this being part of my problem too...

Anyways Thank you! :-D

Good to know! Yes, I am using an older version of Lightroom and camera raw. Happy to hear this might be the issue.

I've seen this with many different cameras at high ISOs or when pushing shadows too far.

In Lightroom, disabling the lens profile sometimes helps/eliminates it.

Here's an example (ISO 20,000) on the left, showing the pattern, and on the right with the profile disabled.

And for comparison, the shot after cleaning it up with LR's noise reduction.
