Question my a6000 for some reason started to fire the shutter on its own, it happens only when i turn the camera off. It happens when the camera has not been used for longer than 3 to 5 days. And no picture is being written to the SD card. Is this normal I have searched and can't find anything on this.

There is a self timer option, but not a fire at will when powering off feature.

Exchange it or send it in for repair.

It may be the sensor self cleaning

Regards

does it happen every time you turn the camera off, or just some of the time?

This is perfectly normal.

Basically the camera takes an image with the shutter closed and then 'maps out' the stuck pixels on the sensor. When it takes the next image, it interpolates the stuck pixels from the pixels around it

It only happens after the camera has not been used for more than 3 or 5 days, so no it does not happen all the time.

Thank you that makes sense.

my a6000 is 2 weeks old (since I bought it) and has done this once when turning off. I didn't think much of it, after all software told the camera to do it and it doesn't do it every time. Must be a normal thing if it is from the same firmware most of the A6000 owners use. :D
