Hi all,
EdgeSharpen-16bit has been updated and now has 6 choices:

1) ES (Sharpening only)

This action will not work in batch mode and was made to perform the Sharpening only.

2) ES (Sharpening only) Batch
This is the same as number 1) but should be used only in batch mode

3) ES (with auto contrast)

The same as number 1), but a Auto contrast is performed. PS: Your colors won't change. Only the contrast.

4) ES (with auto contrast) Batch
Same as number 3) for Batch use.

5) ES (Sharpening and reduc noise)
Same as number 1), but an option to reduce ISO 800 or ISO1600 at the end

6) ES Sharpen and noise red Batch
Same as number 5), but it works in batch.

The location for download is the same and the name file is the same as original.

Download it EdgeSharpen-16bit V1.0 here:

Any feedback welcome.

I've made some few minor corrections to the action.
Feel free to contribute with ideas or problems for the version 1.0

I've been thinking of making another action, which assigns and convert to profiles automatically when doing batches. (The LC or HC profiles will be used).
What do you think?

Good idea.

Maybe you can help me out here. I always have to save my pictures in landscape mode before doing any batches, because I want to easily downsample to a particular size ( 532x798 ) before saving as a JPG (level 5).

I can't find a way (if some of the pics have already been rotated to portrait) to downsample by a particular PERCENTAGE instead of to a specific number of pixes. Yet, there MUST be a way that I'm just missing.

Another thought:

If I'm running a batch on a list of D-30 files, what will PS do (without your batch file) as it opens each (unassigned) D-30 file when working space is set to Adobe, for example? Would I (without your proposed batch) have to sit there and manually assign/convert (if I hadn't already done that in the batch file I'd written) ?

Yes, there is a way:

In image size dialog box, choose the percentage you want to downsample (make sure the width and height are the same) and change "pixels" to "percentage

Well, right now you will have to do the assign and convert manually and you won't be able to do it with ES version 1.0 (with current batch mode actions).

I will make another action option in version 1.1, which will automatically assign your images to the "LC" profile and another to the "HC" profile and convert to your current working space.

PS: Please change your working space to "sRGB" when doing any batches with ES version 1.0, as Photoshop assigns automatically your images to your default working space. If you have AdobeRGB as your default working space, your images will look oversaturated and with color shifts.

The new version 1.1 will fix this when using any of its actions. (This is not my fault. It's Canon's fault for giving us an "untagged" image file)

PS2: You will need to install the "LC" and "HC" profiles yourself to be able to use the new actions. I will post it soon.

Best,
FRED

First of all ...

Thanx for your help the other day on the proper implementation of your EdgeSharpen. (First Thread)
Now that I know how to do it, I will give it a try...but not just yet!

My Viewsonic P815 died just after I requested help from you. Some problem with the Power Supply or Transformer. It is out of warranty and was provided to me by Viewsonic as a replacement for my G810 when they couldn't economically repair its faulty transformer.

What a pity. I had finally gotten to the point where print and screen were close enough to please me on the P815. Since I can't live without my computer, I bought a new monitor ... Sony G520. Have had enough problems with Viewsonic and thought I'd give Sony a chance to earn a bad reputation with me!

Now I have to go through the whole process of recalibration, etc.

Morto

Will this sharpening tool work with Photoshop 5LE or only with the full Photoshop 6.0.
Thanks,
Bob

What settings do you recommend for in camera preferences, e.g. hi, normal, lo for contrast, saturation and sharpening to get the best results from your action.

Thanks
