Anyways, despite the one other major review which noted 20 minute battery life (for sure a problem with the unit!? - after all the Panasonic CIPA rating was 120 shots, that's 1 every 30 seconds with the flash on every other shot, plus power down and on every ten shots --- do the math and that's 3600 seconds / 60 seconds per minute = 60 minutes).
Yes, one hour is still very short vs. many of the other digicams available today, but that's assumming you'll be shooting one picture every 30 seconds for 1 hour straight! who does that?!? Must be he kept the camera on the entire 20 minutes of his walk and/or cycled through many more pictures than anyone normally would in 20 minutes and/or had the LCD on super-bright?
Since the 1 hour continous battery life is similar to my Fuji 40i on older 1600mAh batteries, I'd say in real life, you can actually get a good 2 1/2 to 3 hours of typical shooting out of a single battery (that's easily 100+ shots in my case during a short day trip) by simply turning off the unit when it's not in use, and keeping reviews to a minimum duration.
Well, that's what happens when you try to run an entire digicam off a cell phone battery sliver (which is basically what they're using in this Panasonic).

Lens wise, it's not a L-series Canon, so you'll naturally see the typical purple fringing/blowouts in areas between tree leaves facing the sky.
Still, looking at the one picture with the girl standing against the poster covered wall, the printed text remains sharp and crisp throughout the picture, and the edges stay good as well (unlike some other cameras where they go soft).
Overall, the pictures I see have a nice, warm color balance to them, crisp focus, sharp details, and really no problems at all from a pocket P&S sized camera. Sparkling is what I'd call them (yes, and bring a reflector when you're travelling to get great light coverage, too!).
Picture-wise, I'd still pick the FX7 over the Casio EX-Z55 for image quality -- the Casio images tend to be a touch softer than I'd like for a 5MP, so despite the shorter battery life (which I'd simply carry another battery), the FX7 is the winner here for me. (even vs. the Canon S500 - LCD too small, edge softness)
