Hi,

I'm getting a wierd red cast to my proofs when I let Photoshop control color management with the SP 2200 (I use the SP 2200 print space and turn off printer color control). If I let the printer control the color and turn off PS color management the results are much better, but then I can't specify a particular profile for the different paper types the 2200 can use.

I'm using Mac os X.

I know I'm doing something wrong and I'm hoping someone with more experience can point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance,

tony

Hi Tony

Not sure what you mean by ...use the SP 2200 print space....

The print space (in Print preview) should be the ICC profile for the Printer/Ink/Paper combo. If you are using Epson inks and paper you can download profiles for the 2200 from the Epson USA site. If you are using a profile then in the print dialogue you must set colour management to OFF. Check No Color Management radio button. Make sure the other settings are correct for the profile in use eg media type and resolution.

Basically that all there is to it.

Hope that helps

Hi.

The SP 2200 print space is not a profile for a specific paper, but a color space used by the Epson driver. If you want use it, you have to let on the printer color control. If your pictures have embedded the sRGB space, you can turn off the printer color management (dest space --> same at source), because the Epson driver always makes the conversion from sRGB to the right space (when you select the paper, the driver choose the right destination profile for the specific paper).

If your pictures have embedded another space (for example Adobe RGB), you have to convert them to the SP 2200 print space before printing and let on the printer color control.

Alternatively, if you want turn off the printer color control, you have to download the right profile from the Epson site, and convert your images from the native space to the specific profile for the specific paper.

I found these profiles not very good, and I think you'll have better results with the printer color control set to on.

I made by myself some profiles with a colorimeter (Gretag Eye-One Photo), and they works very well, better then the original, distribuited by Epson, and better then the SP 2200 print space .

I hope I have been clear.
Sorry for my english.

Bye
