without problems thereafter like metering going kaput etc? Please post to this thread if you did not experience any problem after the upgrade. Do tell if you see anything weird too.

I've just picked up my new D2H which is still V1.0 firmware and am contemplating to have the firmware upgraded (especially Nikon here takes only 15mins if I drive to their centre which near my house).

I upgraded to 2.0 without difficulty as soon as it came out and have had no trouble. Metering works well, and extensive shooting with my 70-200VR and 28-70 AF-S has revealed no issues at all.

Make sure you read all the threads on the firmware upgrade here. Most important is to allow plenty of time for the upload to the camera, even after the LCD info says the upload is complete. Follow the instructions exactly. I used the same Lexar 40X CF card for both part one and part 2, making sure to reformat the card in between the two parts.

Hi Henry,

I applied the upgrade two weeks ago and all went well. I agree it is probably important to follow the detail of the instructions.

I have had no problems since the upgrade, but I have also not noticed any improvements/changes either. Before V2.0 it was a wonderful camera, and after V2.0 it still is!
Best of luck.

I know the upgrade does not clean up high ISO noise etc like many were hoping for but I'm more interested in the additional focussing options and better AWB (less orangy look when under mixed lights).

I've plenty of learning on this camera but I think I'll sleep through this Photokina happily.

Thanks Phil

turnaround on such upgrades so I won't even need to do it myself.
It is really convenient for us here, especially ofr NPS members.
Ah, lucky dog... :) That's the way to go.

I haven't seen anyone draw a definitive link between the firmware upgrade and metering-kaput, but if there is, I wonder if the issue might not be somehow related to firmware uploading problems...

Upgraded firmware...and about a week later, the meter went crazy. The LCDs in the viewfinder would get brighter if I tilted the camer either up or down and the light meter would suddenly go haywire, wildly underexposing.

A week and a half in the Torrance repair shop fixed it on warranty.

related to the firmware upgrade in any way?

I had an email reply from Nikon Singapore and I specifically asked them if the metering problem was caused by the firmware upgrade but they said they have no such issues. Only ones were from upgrade errors like pulling the power too early/ low battery power, errors like that etc.
