D70 in a bag photos

My big bag is a Lowepro Compact AW which holds all of my equipment. I don't tote it around that much because it weighs about 20 pounds fully packed. My daily bag is a Lowpro Topload Zoom AW that holds the D70 with the 18-70mm kit lens attached (hood reversed), the 50mm F/1.8 and 24mm F/2.8 in the very bottom, plus some accessories.

Main compartment of the Compact AW:

N80 + MB-16 (B&W)
N80 + MB-16 (slide)
D70
Nikkor 18-70mm AF-S DX kit lens (bottom right)
Nikkor 50mm F/1.8D AF
Nikkor 24mm F/2.8D AF (below the 50mm)
Spare room (Giottos Rocket Air Blaster or Canon A70 in a bag go here)

The side bags hold charger, batteries, cloths, flashlight, etc.

My trusty canvas Domke F2. Bought it in '94 for my N90...

As seen from carrying side:

Closed:

Holds:
D70 w/ kit
two "short" primes
80-200 f2.8D, one other similar size
Flash (in outside pocket)
poncho, minipod, etc.

I love it because it has almost no extraneous bulk; the grey pockets are entirely removable and even the ffoam around them comes out if desired. There is a stabilizer board underneath the gear that I often remove to make the bag even softer.

Very quick to work from -- all pockets immediately accessible with free hand.

Also, it definitely does not scream "camera bag" or "tourist" the way that a Tamrac or Tenba nylon exterior does.

Will hold the D70 mounted to the 80-200 in vertical position, with bag closed.

Dislikes: not the best bag for hikes, I will switch to a backpack if carrying over rough ground for more than a half mile. Also, top of bag is not cushioned.

Whoops. URL error

great idea- does anyone use a smaller bag for light traveling??
I use two bags: Lowepro Nova 5 AV for point-to-point transportation mostly and Tamrac Velosity 7 sling pack for walking.

Nova accomodates D70 with all standard accessories, four lenses, SB800 flash, grey cards, compact reflector.

Velocity accomodates D70 with kit lens + second lens + SB800 flash + set of Cokin filters. Sometimes I put the flash and TWO lenses in that bag, keeping the camera on my neck.

Both of them have enough pocket space for spare batteries, memory cards, lenspen, filters, filter holders, etc...

You may already have this one I shot of the 70-200 VR with 1.4 TC-14EII attatched, the hood is on without being reveresed, and three lenses including the wide 12-24 sigma. This is the lowepro magnum AW. I will add more in a bit.

Anybody have or try either the LowePro Stealth Reporter 400 AW or any og thier larger Urban Series (Linx 430, etc)?
I've noticed alot people (including myself) asking about camera
bags for the D70. Some people have photographed their D70 inside a
bag with lenses, etc. I was thinking of putting together a website
listing all these as theyre really hard to find on this forum. I
think it would be useful to all.

So If you can post them here along with perhaps a brief description
of the bag name and the contents , I'll put something together.

thanks

That's the bag i have too and love it. Just used it on a long day trip, full of gear, and it's strap didn't kill my shoulder like other bags i've used. I even modified mine to hold my Apple 12" iBook laptop too. So it has my iBook, D70, 70-300mm, 50mm, 18-70mm, and other goodies..

I had the Stealth Reporter 650, and it killed me. I took it once on a trip, and had to stay in a hotel just so I could get it off my shoulder. It gave me so much pain. I had a 15" powerbook in it, and Canon Elan 7 with a lens.. not much more. But I didn't like the way the bag spread the load onto my body. Would never get it again.

I've also had the Stealth AW II backpack, and it was a pleasure to wear. Also has a spot for laptop.

I currently use the Lowe Compact AW pro bag. I modified it to carry my 12" iBook, and had it filled with all my Nikon gear this past week, walking for 8 hours, and it never gave me any pain.

Hi,

Thanks for the great idea/site... ;-)

But there seems to currently be a few problems - the pic on the front page doesnt work, and the link the the 'Other' page seems to be poingint to a file on your HDD instead of a proper web link...
