I have been using Hoya 77mm UV filters for my
AFS 12-24 DX
AFS 28-70
AFS 70-200 VR

I just tested on tripod with the UV filters on for all the leses, the image, especially centre appeared to be softer.

Any recommendation on which 77mm UV filters for these lens for lens protection meanwhile derlivering optical outstanding quality?

Chanyik,

I have a B+W 77mm on my 70-200 and it delivers always great results. I'm very pleased with this filter, make sure you get the multi coated ones. I have the 'normal' version but they offer slim versions for ultra wide angle lenses as well.

I use the Nikon L37C 77mm on my 17-35 & 80-400. B&H has them for about 63.00.

It's not the cheapest, but IMHO B+W MRC are the best.

Kind regards

Note that most manufacturers have several filter lineups, up varying quality.

For the lowest image degredation, you'll want to find a good multi-coated filter like the Hoya Super HMC and B+W MRC series.

http://www.2filter.com is a good place for information and also to purchase from.

Hi!

I'm using B&W Filters all the way. Much chaper than Nikon-Filters and, as I think, no problems at all.

But let me ask you another question:
I like the combination af your lesnses.
If you could mix it a new way, would you choose the same combination?
Especially:
Would you stiil take the AFS 28-70, or choose the AFS 17-55 DX?
