Hey gang,

still waiting on that UPS truck to bring my E-10, but in the mean time I'm trying to figure out which accessories to buy for it in what order. Here is what I have so far on my list:

1) NIMH AA Batteries and Charger (got'm)
2) Several CF cards (got'm)
3) New Camera Bag (Tamrac 515 or Zoom 16)
4) 62mm UV Protective Filter

Which other filters would y'all recommend as essential? I'm assuming a couple of diff. Neutral Density filters will come in handy...... I'm on my way by WolfCamera this afternoon to pick up the UV filter and bag, so I can grab another filter or two.....

Then there is the Santa list for when some money breaks free (feel free to add to it or reorder it):

5) FL-40 flash
6) Lenses
7) Digital Wallet
8) Epson Photo 1280 (I have a Photo 750 for now)
9) Battery Grip

So the question is for you guys/gals who've had your E-10 for a while: Which accessories in what order would you deem essential for an amateur who is getting rebitten by the photography bug he last shook in college???

Thanks in advance,

Frank W.

Frank:

I would strongly consider a circular polarizer filter as well as more battery power than just the NIMH AA batteries. In addition a good tripod should be on the list somewhere.

Happy shooting, when it gets here.

Thanks for the input Paul.

I do have the Battery grip on my wishlist, but until then the NIMHs will have to do.

Good tip on the polarizer, it's been so long since I've broken out my 35mm Pentax Super A SLR that I forgot I had one.
I already have got a tripod, so that's covered.....

Thanks again,

Frank

First is to replace the strap with anything but the one that it came with - I picked up an OPTECH for US$20. This works even when the TCON-300+14B is on it.

If you buy the WCON-08B (wide angle) you cannot use the built in flash as it leaves a shadow. You listed the FL-40 flash in ahead of lenses . . . so this may already be covered. The semi hard case (actually soft leather unpadded case) CS-1SH comes in handy for when you are just carrying the E-10 by itself, keeps dirt and moisture from getting to it - especially while eating/drinking with the E-10 dangling around your neck at some outdoor event. If you get the TCON300+14B then a 49mm to 62mm step ring is needed, about US$7. Check out my accessory case @ http://www.zing.com/album/?id=4292738077
Have fun and good shooting, also posting!

Go for the 1280, when you see your first A3 and SuperB prints that the E-10 and 1280 make you will survive on" bread and water "for a few weeks to pay for it ! and never regret it. Good Luck.

The best always.

Hey Frank,

I might recommend you start with the shutter release cable. Although not always needed, there will be that " One Time " when you wished you had it.

Then I would start thinking about the lense's. Depending on what type of photography you're planning on doing depends on which lens to get next.

I have the Epson 1270 printer, and like others have said. Once you see your work come out in an 11x14 or larger print, you'll be hooked. :o)

Good luck!

You guys are an inspiration to me.

For a while I thought I had a disease whereby I was already thinking about what accessory to buy before the ones I had ordered had already shown up at my door, but I read these threads and realize that I'm not alone. Still so much to buy, and so little money.

Have fun with the new camera.

Hi Dave,

I just thank the VISA Gawd for all the blessing's he has imparted unto me. :o)

Sadly, the PayCheck Gawd is combining forces with the BankAccount Gawd, and bestowing me with an empty wallet. :(

Ye, tho I walk thru the Valley of Many Untaken shots, I shall fear no PhotoLab. For my E10 is with me. :o)

I have done it in the following order:

1) Epson 1290 (UK version of 1280),

2) E10,

3) Several sets of NiMh betteries,

4) 1Gb MicroDrive

5) Several more sets of NiMh betteries,

6) 62mm UV and Circular Polarising filters

7) TCON 300

8) 49mm UV and Circular Polarising filters

I've been waiting for the arrival of my LiPo grip since about (4) ... and am still waiting!

Add the polariser to the list. Please note - for digicam you need circular polariser, not linear. Good price/perf for Soligor and Kaiser polarisers (I think is better to choose it in the shop not by mail order). Do not waste time to Hoya/Tifeen polarisers.
And I'm found that additional battery holder (B-HLD1) is very useful.

...also add to the list:

2 x B-HLD1 Battery Holders,

1 x Unity Digital Pro Power Pack (5 cell version while I wait for my LiPo grip),

1 x Tamrac Explorer 5 Backpack.

(And that's just today...)
