Hi:

I expect to receive my 6 GB DW in two days. Then I have about 3 weeks to get accustomed to it, before going for 4 all-digital weeks to Madagascar. I have been browsing through past posts to see if there are any hints about proper use of the DW, and have indeed found a few

1) Always disconnect the battery when not in use

2) Charge/discharge batteries 4 times to get full battery capacity

3) Turn of DW when inserting or removing media

Does anybody have any other advises for proper use of the DW?
Is there a "good" procedure for performing the 4 charge/discharges?

While uploading to it, try to minimize your movement with DW.

Also when you do get it try to used it everyday before your trip.
That way you will have a comfort level with it and hopefully
you will have no problem before your trip.

The only problem my DW had was with the Hard drive, something you cannot blame MAW for. To check yours, fill your camera flash card with pictures, then keep downloading the same card until the Hard drive in the DW is full. Don't worry, the wallet will set a new directory every time you download the card, and when you have finished, the files can be deleted in Windows explorer via the USB link.

This will not only prove that the file system works, but also it will give you confidence that the hard drive is working OK also.

One final piece of advice, get yourself a decent padded case for all the unavoidable knocks that travelling tends to produce.
Have a good holiday.

Yes, you can exchange the hard drive in the DW. But as you will break the manufacturers seal, this will void the warrenty if it is under 12 months old.
Keep smiling

I have a question....

Is it possible to replace the HDD of DW when it is broken?
